I purchased this car used several years ago, as I was making a move up north and wanted something more reliable and better suited to icy roads. It has racked up the mileage and held up fairly well. It has had to have some significant work over the past few years but not necessarily more than should be expected at the mileage level.
Story
This car has travelled many miles with me across the country, and then I had a job that took me driving many miles around southern Wisconsin. We've explored many different new streets and listened to lots of good music together.
Pros
The car is easy to drive and manage. The four-wheel drive is very helpful on icy roads. I also felt that the car had good visibility from the driver's seat. It has a somewhat "sportsy" feel and appearance to it but doesn't stand out too much. This works well for me, since I am just as happy for my car to be a little anonymous and not stand out too much when parked on a city street. The trunk is very roomy, which can be a big plus.
Cons
This car has had constant ongoing trouble with the air conditioner—it has had major expensive repairs three or four times over the past four years. Also, I consistently had trouble setting the driver's seat in a comfortable position. It got scratched at one point and the touch-up paint the dealership recommended did the job but did not quite match.

I was fortunate enough to purchase a 2002 Subaru Impreza RS with less than ninety-thousand miles.
Story
This car is relatively new for me, but I go on a lot of dates and get a lot of compliments on the car.
Pros
There are a lot of pros of the Subaru Impreza Rally sport, 2.5 liter. From 2002, this car is essentially a Subaru WRX—minus the spoiler and hood scoop. It is naturally aspirated. This car is fantastic for the price. The interior is fairly simple yet classy for the year. The gas mileage is fantastic. The power is exceptional. This car handles extremely well too, due to the wide fenders and 2.5-liter boxer engine providing top notch balance. Not to mention, the car is so much cheaper than the Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
Cons
You do not get the turbo charger, the spoiler or hood scoop. But honestly, you can do all of that yourself and save the money if you really want to. Although with the turbo charger, you lose fuel efficiency, so natural aspiration is a great way to go.
