The Impreza a is a fun and satisfying vehicle to drive. I use it for camping a lot, and it's all-wheel drive feature allows me to traverse most sites without fear of getting stuck in mud -- although I would never be tempted to go off roading because of the low suspension. This is not an issue for city driving, obviously. And it has not been a problem camping, as long as I keep it in areas that are manageable. The vehicle also maintains great handling in all conditions that I have experienced, even hurricane Irma! No joke. The main draw backs are minor, things that newer models are integrating such as technology is one. Another is the road noise you get. However, these are minor. I wish the acceleration would be better, but it performs well as long as you aren't afraid of the upper RPM ... (more)
Story
Well, as I mentioned above, I got in an accident. Someone ran a stop sign in from of me on the highway and caused me to collide into them going about 55 mph, prior to my split second panic breaking. I felt a solid clunk, but my car was barely damaged per a visual inspection. It wasn't until later I learned the railing was bent. The other vehicle has a sizable dent in it and was clearly damaged... (more)
Pros
Car has great handling around corners and sharp turns. It is great for making U-turns in an urban environment. Never hydroplanes in wet weather. Solid suspension and torque for mountain driving. The vehicle cabin has excellent visibility with the window configuration and the forward positioning of mirrors. The interior is also very comfortable and easy to maintain. Self maintenance for basic services is very easy and convenient to accomplish, limiting the need to pay for service or take it in to a dealership. The five-door model is very roomy, giving lots of space to pack it in for camping... (more)
Cons
Acceleration is a bit slow, and the torque hides in the upper rpm range. There are not a lot of extra features or bells and whistles, especially in terms of integrated cockpit technology apart from Bluetooth. The cabin can also be noisy from road noise, especially at highway speeds.

I really enjoy this car. It has always been a dream of mine to own a Subaru. I never really thought this goal was going to happen because of cost of the cars. So I thought, these cars are just as affordable as others on the market if not cheaper. That doesn't take away from the value of the car at all. This thing is a beast. Anyone that does any research can also see they are extremely safe and reliable, as well as having very high resale value which to me says a lot about what you are getting in this car.
Story
One time I visiting a friend outside of philly during the winter time. It just so happen during that time period of being up there we decided to make a trip to the local casino. If you have ever been at a casino before you know that they do not have windows, really just doors to get in and out, they what your attention on the games. While we spent some time losing money there happen to be a pr... (more)
Pros
One of the major things I love about this car is the all wheel drive factor. It doesn't matter what weather is going on outside, you always feel safe and comfortable. I also have a hatchback, so the space inside the car is very surprising when the back seats are folded down. I have been able to fit a full 5 foot gun cabinet in the back as well as a 12 foot piece of carpet. I also love the fun factor of driving the car; it has some get up and go as well as a extremely tight turning radius for a stock car.
Cons
Honestly the only con I have for this car is the ground clearance. There have been times where I have been driving the car and the bottom has scraped on something as I was going over it. I would have liked the car to have just a tad bit more clearance, kind of like the Outback does. Nothing crazy, but if you are going to take the car on back roads (which I do) it would have been a nice feature to have!

I recently moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the road to my new home is dirt, rock, and at a steep incline. My Toyota Camry wasn't handling it well. I spoke with my new letter carrier, and she told me that her Subaru, which she used to deliver the mail, had over 300,000 miles on it and was still running strong. It handled the mountains roads better than any other vehicle she'd tried. I promptly traded in my Camry for a Subaru Impreza. I love it! It takes these roads like a champ, and it's small--so it fits my small stature perfectly. I love that it's a hatch back because in that capacity, it serves as a small pick up truck when I need to haul things. I recently met a neighbor, and as he walked past my car, he patted and said, "I see you got you a Subaru--them thangs handle these m... (more)
Pros
It sits low to the ground for better mountain handling. The hatchback serves as a mini pick up for hauling things. The back seat lays down flat for hauling large items. The mpg is displayed while driving. There are special gear features for very steep inclines. There is a special feature that locks all four wheels together to help when stuck in mud or other slippery conditions.
Cons
I miss the compass I had in my Camry. There is no lumbar support. It can be quite loud when driving due to wind/lack of proper sealing. The owner's manual is not user friendly--I couldn't figure out how to put it in four-wheel drive or many of the other functions.
