The 2004 Subaru Impreza RS wagon is a sturdy car that lives up to the Subaru reputation of being reliable and safe as well as fun to drive. It handles well in all types of inclement weather and even feels 'grippy' in slick conditions, thanks to the AWD. And like most Subaru's, it's reliable, requiring minimal maintenance beyond the standard maintenance. The manual shifts well, and its size makes it agile and fun to drive on road and off road.
Story
I went camping in Bishop, CA and ended up sleeping in the car, because I ended up forgetting a sleeping bag. It was definitely interesting, as the car was perfectly comfortable, but I couldn't sleep from the cold.
Pros
Favorite features of the car are the fact it's a hatchback. I've fit the frame for a full-size bed in it. The AWD is also really wonderful in bad weather.
Cons
It's not a nice-looking car, and the body dings if you look at it a bit funny. The car is also bare bones which is good and bad depending on what kind of a driver you are. Some people want bells and whistles, but if you just want a simple car that's fun to drive, this is a good pick.

I got a used Subaru Impreza TS wagon with 30,000 miles on it and I absolutely love it. I have lived in snow and live a pretty active lifestyle and it's been ideal for handling all of that stuff.
Story
I recently went surfing with a friend. I've been to cheap and lazy to get a rack for my car but my longboards fit inside. However, the boards have to fit on one side so in order to get to the beach, my friend had to sit behind me. I'm sure we looked quite comical.
Pros
Best things are the Subaru reliability. Generally, it hasn't had any major issues... generally. Mostly all I've had to do was oil changes and the general maintenance. It handles great in adverse weather and I feel really safe driving it. I can stash camping gear and surfboards in it with no problem.
Cons
One major issue I had was the head gaskets went and that ended up costing me a chunk of change to fix it. The body was also made of paper and just looking at it funny made a dent. However, this car isn't... sexy. But I don't care as it's usually full of sand and dirt anyway.
