Pros

  • Standard AWD
  • Open and airy cabin
  • Sporty chassis
  • Impressive fuel efficiency
  • Cons

  • Small trunk
  • Sparsely equipped base trim
  • Lackluster powertrain
  • Limited rear-seat headroom

  • Key Takeaways

Redesigned the previous year, the 2018 Subaru Impreza still maintains the hallmark "Subaruness" of the old versions with standard all-wheel drive, sporty handling, and a funky-sounding boxer engine. The Impreza is even sharper now with better interior space and a rear seat that can accommodate adults. Despite a small trunk and somewhat lackluster powertrain, the Impreza's stellar handling, roomy cabin, available hatchback body style and a number of widely available advanced driver aids help keep it competitive in the compact market.

I have been driving Subarus for over ten years, and they are by far my favorite vehicles. The 2018 Impreza has a very solid and sturdy build, yet the car is sporty and compact. It has all-wheel drive and handles winter weather really well. There is no need to change gears when you hit snow. I can drive it in the snow and on the ice without issues in AWD, and I always feel really safe in it. The front seats can heat up, which is great on a really cold morning when you are waiting for the heater to warm up the car. The heater also heats up really fast. I like the thermostat in the car. I wish the back seat had heat control. It is very stylish, especially for a wagon. The Apple CarPlay comes standard which is an incredible feature. CarPlay is like having an iPad on your dash. Our first ski trip in the car was the most memorable trip so far! It got us up the mountain safely, and we were really comfortable while stuck in bad traffic on the way back from the mountain. The highway ended up closing due to a bad wreck, and we had to camp overnight. We stayed warm and comfortable!
    Pros
Some of the best features are Apple CarPlay and the sound system. You can control the volume and Siri from the steering wheel as well. AWD is a great feature. More positives include the high-quality tires that come standard, the stylish interior, the cargo space, the safety features, and the size. It can fit in compact spaces and is easy to parallel park. USB ports in the front seat. The interior is really sleek, and the fabric does not heat up in the sun. Heated front seats. Heated windshield. The cargo space can fit outdoor gear. The seats go down for more space in the back. The air bags... (more)
    Cons
Sometimes there is not enough space for tons of luggage on a road trip, which can be a con. You can only fit one large dog in the back, not more than one. If you want to pack a lot of stuff in the car, you have to put the seats down, and then there is less room for seating. There is not a lot of leg room in the backseat. The headlights are not LED. There is not a two-wheel drive version. The car is sort of pricey. CarPlay is not Android compatible. You can only connect an iPhone to CarPlay. Sometimes CarPlay glitches and does not detect my iPhone when it is plugged in, and it won't sync wi... (more)

The 2016 Subaru Impreza hatchback is one of the best cars I have every owned. Having an all-wheel drive vehicle that can take you to the snow, the mountains or to the beach is wonderful. It's sleek design, roof rack and fold down back seats allow you to go anywhere and haul anything for your next road adventure. It features nice allow wheels, power windows, locks, sunroof, premium audio with Apple Play. Great A/C and heat, fully adjustable seats and great gas mileage of over 34 mpg on the freeway. It has only 18,000 cruising miles and a full seven-year 100,000-mile warranty. This is rated one of the safest cars on the road today. It also has a specialized safety chip that Subaru grantees to buy you a new car if this one is ever stolen in the first five years. The pearl white exterior w... (more)

We took this out to the beach in Bodega Bay one summer weekend and had a great time driving in the sand and playing on the beach.
    Pros
Safety, compact but roomy, ability to haul all your sports equipment, easy to drive especially with all the large window views.
    Cons
You won't beat the Corvettes off the line for speed, but it has plenty of pep to get anywhere.
