When I first bought my car, I tested out a regular 2.0 And hated it. I test drove my car, which is a 2.5 Liter, and absolutely loved the pickup the engine had. It also seemed very roomy, which was a good thing because I was pregnant. After having the baby though the car doesn't seem as roomy as I thought. There is not much space in the back for 3 children. Keeping in good VW fashion, the trunk does hold all of our junk. The speaker system is great and when the windows are closed it does keep the road noise out. Overall, its a good car!
Story
Took this car to the fireworks when my baby was 3 weeks old. I ended up sitting inside it with my son and the car is made so well, we couldn't even hear the fireworks and I was able to enjoy them without a crying baby!
Pros
My favorite thing about my car is the radio/speaker system. It came with a built in GPS unit which I came to love. Also, the Bluetooth for the audio and phone is awesome! The speaker system is crazy loud and I have never had to turn it all the way up!
Cons
The worst thing about this car is the space in the back seat. We have 3 children, ages 6, 5, and newborn. The car seat does not fit in the middle correctly because there is not enough room. Also, when we put the newborn car seat on the sides, it has to be whichever side I am on since I am shorter and don't need the have the seat back as far. This leaves me crammed either against the steering wheel or my feet crammed in the front seat. Not very comfortable for me anymore.

I leased the car new and I got the base package but my payment of was under $200a month for a brand new car so low cost of ownership was great. I was leery of VWs electronic issues of the past but was comforted by the warranty. The 2.5 Liter 5 cyl was a bit too much as a Honda 4cyl seems tighter and higher revving and the extra cylinder didn't add that much to the power I was expecting but their 2.0T was superb and got better mpg than my 5cyl but more money. The car held up well to daily driving and had features that I liked 1 touch down windows USB port etc. It was a solid car and a great entrance to German made cars for a younger guy.
Story
Driving through a field at 3am to get to a fishing hole in 4 feet of grass and the little fwd car made it well and surprisingly the paint didn't scratch up it was a solid paint job with a few clear coats and still looked good.
Pros
I liked the looks. With sleek lines and symmetric lights it was nice to pull up and be seen. The stock stereo was solid and was happy about xm being in the car. The build quality was definitely German (although made in TN) and I liked the solid sound shutting the door made. The seats were comfortable and as a fat guy it was nice to get an entry level car that didn't feel like I was strapped in a church pew. The fit and finish was solid and the little things that make a new car old fast lasted longer than I expected and It was simply a comfortable cabin that I was happy to go on a long trip in.
Cons
As time went on things came loose and the little things like the speedometer got uncalibrated and I had to spend some time in the service department to get it fixed and ultimately it was the tpms that was off that screwed it all up. The base model was well equipped but I would like more gadgets and little things as standard features.. But I imagine on the 2015\16 models there are more features.

I bought this car used out of a lease with only 31K miles on it. It's got some dings and blemishes on it from it's previous life as a city vehicle, but that's why it had low miles It's my everyday driver and I put at least 50 miles a day on it. It's got plenty of power. The base model 2012 Jetta I got out of was way underpowered. The 2.5 Liter engine is big difference. Plenty of power for highway passing. Plenty of power for merging onto highways. I needed to buy new tires all around as the set that were on it were cheap and dry rotted and one had some metal in it. I needed to replace the left front wheel bearing. Needed new brakes. All of these are normal wear and tear service items though. Easily the best pre-owned car I've ever had.
Story
Folding down the rear seats and stuffing it up to the dashboard with Halloween cornstalks.
Pros
Plenty of power Interior finish out is excellent. Tons of cargo room Great gas mileage
Cons
Interior headliner is a getting a bit dry rotted Multi disc CD changer jammed Rubber coating on radio/cd control bubbled off and flaked off. I had to replace the entire front radio/CD panel
