This is a car that drives very well. The steering is comfortable, the seats are comfortable, and the lines of sights are great. The leather interior is easy to clean and looks nice. The trunk fits quite a lot of stuff, although it is somewhat difficult to access from the interior of the car. I would like it better if the middle seat folded down on its own, but you can only fold down one side seat and the middle and other seat together. The fuel economy is superb! For an older car, it gets really great MPG - close to 40 on the highway. The styling is classic and sleek, and the sunroof is an added bonus. One of the unfortunate things about a VW is how expensive they are to fix, which I have found to be true. Replacement parts cost a lot, and taking the car in to the dealer is also very e... (more)
Story
Driving in a downtown city is nice and easy with a sedan.
Pros
Leather seats that are heated. Sunroof. Easy to see out of the windows. Looks classic. Good MPG.
Cons
Expensive to fix. Interior access to trunk is not great.

This car has great pick up and great visibility. I like being able to see where I'm going as I'm quickly taking off!
Story
I live in West Virginia. I got lost once while driving my Passat, started down the wrong road. At first it was paved, and there were trees on both sides. When I realized I was going the wrong direction, I started looking for a place to turn around and couldn't find one. The further I went, the more gravelly the road became, until it was just a dirt path, basically. Plus, one side of the road s... (more)
Pros
This car is solid. What I like best is the responsiveness of the steering. There's none of that floaty-boaty feeling. It's like driving a wonderfully comfortable go-cart. And the turning radius is phenomenal. You can turn around inside the space of a walk-in closet. I am not kidding!

1999 Volkswagen Passat - Good Used Car

It was overall a great car. I bought it for a few thousand dollars, and for a 15 year old car it runs really well. It has an old sound system with a cassette player and no CD player, but I bought a cassette adaptor for my iPod. It is a comfortable car that drives well. It is also a very nice looking car that is not embarrassing to drive.
Story
I used the car to drive my dog to the lake quite a few times, and we always had a good time.
Pros
It was a good car. It was big, so there was enough room to do anything like shopping, driving with a bunch of friends, or taking my dogs out. I liked that it had cloth seats, as I prefer those. It was easy to drive, and responded well. It was a really nice color also. It had good gas mileage for a 1999 car also.
Cons
It had some performance issues. The check engine light came on kind of frequently. I had to take it to the shop a little more often. The problems usually weren't that bad though. The car occasionally had to be jump started. It was more of an age of the car problem, not the actual make or model though.
