2009 Volkswagen Passat OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS
Greensboro, North Carolina
Comfort, luxury, classic.
I like the look of my car in person and in pictures it looks great and has held it's value. I have had a few moments where it just isn't worth it to drive as an everyday car. If you have a turbo you know the costly routine maintenance that can be annoying and also for my make model and year only it requires to pumps to filters twice as much oil. In the end I love my turbo and enjoy the classy look of my car.

Passat S Sedan
The VW Passat is enjoyable to drive. Sometimes described as the "poor man's BMW", the Passat lives up to this description with tight handling and quick pickup. The Passat drives like a much more expensive vehicle, hugging the curves and responding quickly to the accelerator. It is a smooth drive. Be careful, this means it is easy to go faster than you might think you're going!
Repairs for this car, however, tend to be expensive. That includes normal maintenance costs, like brakes and exhaust. The catalytic converter is especially expensive, over $1,000 with parts and labor. That's unfortunate since the car has a dual exhaust. The good news is that it doesn't need repair often. However, when routine maintenance is required, it tends to be pricey. It is worth seeking out a mechanic who is experienced with VWs.
The options are quality, with good leather seats, a quality sound system and fun additions like a sun roof. Despite the powerful engine, the gas mileage is reasonable. Overall, the Passat offers a less expensive but quality option to enjoy that famous German engineering.
