I own my third Volkswagen Passat, which is a 2016 model. It is larger than my 2008 and just about the same size as my 2014. I chose a beige interior which makes the inside of the car appear much larger than the usual black interior. I drive in the "Sport" mode, for I am used to the stiff steering on my 2008, although the 2016 has a little more looseness to the steering. When in the sport mode, the car can turn "on a dime!" The car is a bright white and has LED lights which illuminate brightly and look very cool!
Story
When I drove through an Arby's drive through, a teenage girl at the window asked me if my car was a Jetta or a Passat. When I told her it was a Passat, she called the other young girls over to the window to see it. She said, "I just knew it was a Passat!"
Pros
I like to drive in the Sport Mode which makes the steering a little stiffer and I can make sharp turns. I feel safe with the all around air bags The rich looking beige interior makes the inside of the care appear larger than the black interior. The back up feature has really helped me out and so far, I haven't backed into anything! I love the LED lights which makes my car have a modern look. The body style is sleek and I receive many compliments. The bright white paint shows little dirt and I don't have to wash the car as much as a darker colored car.
Cons
I like just about everything about this car, except I would have liked a control on the middle air vents so I could adjust the amount of air. I believe this is new since the 2014 model. I have to adjust the dual temperature controls to 75 or more to stop the cold air. The steering is a little looser than on my last two models and I would like it to have been a little stiffer. I don't like that the back up system doesn't beep when you come close to an object. I would feel better if it beeped because I sometimes can't see how close I am to an object when backing into the garage.

2016 Volkswagen Passat - Comfortable smooth ride, surprising amount of space and tight handling.

In the mid-sized sedan category, I really liked how the Passat stood out in terms of styling and looks. The front end has an aggressive stance that reminds me of an Audi. The cabin is surprisingly big with plenty of leg room in the back. My 6'3" father-in-law commented on how much room he had the first time he rode in the car. The autoplay technology is outstanding and allows you to use the apps on your phone seamlessly with the car's infotainment system. It's nice to not have to flip systems between car and phone. The traditional VW touches like the analog clock are also cool.
Story
The backroads between Princeton and Hopewell are a great test of the handling and suspension!
Pros
The styling of the exterior and interior distinguish the car from competitors. The infotainment system with Apple CarPlay is outstanding and quickly has become an integral part of my experience. The 1.8 liter turbo gives plenty of power and pickup while delivering excellent gas mileage (37 highway give or take). Finally, I love how quiet the cabin is even at high speed on a busy highway.
Cons
The brakes are a bit touchy, and until I adjusted, I was stopping hard a lot. The auto cruise control is interesting and nice to use when driving in light or no traffic, but in any other kind of traffic, it makes cruise control hard to use, because it slows down well behind the vehicle in front of it. I've read this on other reviews and was surprised to find it is true: On a hot day, if you leave the windows closed, the interior starts to smell a bit odd. It clears out with the windows open for just a minute, but it's not pleasant when it hits you.
