I have bought two of these. Both 2010 Passats. The first I bought in 2010, and the second in 2012 after I totaled the first. I previously drove a 2005 BMW 3 series, and did a great deal of research and test driving of other car brands before I settled on the VW Passat. I found that the feel of the car was much like the BWM, as was the quality of the interior. I felt very comfortable in the car, with the leather material and spacious interior. The technology is great. Touch screen navigation and stereo with satellite capability and hook up for one's phone or iPod. The car is a 6 speed automatic turbo, so it is very peppy, and gets great gas mileage! I can get up to 35mpg on long highway trips, and even more if I set it to cruise control. Story
My best memory in my car would have to be going Christmas shopping and being able to fit all of the gifts and 2 trees in the back. Then, we celebrated Christmas, and even with all the gifts I had received (and having to put the 2 trees back into the trunk), I had enough space in my back seat to fit a couple of end tables, a few lamps, and a smattering of other gifts my aunt gave me for our new... Attractive design. Both the interior and exterior are sleek and well designed. Interior space and storage. The interior has room for even tall people to stretch out. I am almost 6 feet tall, and I can sit comfortably in the back seat, even when there are tall people in the front! And there are multiple compartments in the dashboard for sunglasses, car chargers, and other goodies you might want to keep in the car. And the trunk is enormous! I bought the car after basic training. I was originally looking for a more sporty car or muscle car until I test drove the Passat. I didn't know it at the time but the turbo charged engine was amazing. The interior was very comfortable, the car was very responsive, very spacious, great in the Colorado weather and the turbo engine. It was defiantly a surprise when I first test drove the car. I was expecting a typical family car and ended up with my favorite car.
Story
I was at a light after driving 12 hours to Colorado from Texas. There was a Mustang next to me with a young driver like myself. He wanted to show off is car and take off when the light turned green. When the light turned green I floored it and left the mustang driver shocked. He had no idea my family car was so fast. Pros
Turbo engine is by far the best part of the car and no on suspects your family vehicle to outperform their car. The space. There was so much trunk and backseat space it made moving very easy. Comfort. The car was very comfortable to drive. I was able to drive 12 hours nonstop and feel great afterward.
Cons
It looks like your typical Family car. It is a long car. Parking in some spaces can be difficult because of the length.
