I bought the car after basic training. I was originally looking for a more sporty car or muscle car until I test drove the Passat. I didn't know it at the time but the turbo charged engine was amazing. The interior was very comfortable, the car was very responsive, very spacious, great in the Colorado weather and the turbo engine. It was defiantly a surprise when I first test drove the car. I was expecting a typical family car and ended up with my favorite car.
Story
I was at a light after driving 12 hours to Colorado from Texas. There was a Mustang next to me with a young driver like myself. He wanted to show off is car and take off when the light turned green. When the light turned green I floored it and left the mustang driver shocked. He had no idea my family car was so fast. He made it a point to tell me how impressed he was and ask some questions abo... (more)
Pros
Turbo engine is by far the best part of the car and no on suspects your family vehicle to outperform their car. The space. There was so much trunk and backseat space it made moving very easy. Comfort. The car was very comfortable to drive. I was able to drive 12 hours nonstop and feel great afterward.
Cons
It looks like your typical Family car. It is a long car. Parking in some spaces can be difficult because of the length.

I love having a digital screen installed in my dash to control radio; however, I wish that there was GPS functioning available. I love my leather and my heated seats and definitely have great gas mileage. It's a comfortable drive and always very quiet in the cabin, even on the freeway or interstate.
Story
Being able to drive around DC and get to know a city in my car was one of my favorite experiences...I love that I felt comfortable enough with the ins and outs of my car to be able to explore and get acquainted with a city that is historically designed to be confusing and frustrating.
Pros
My car is exceptionally low maintenance and is a great daily commuter. The brakes are really responsive. The dash is based on efficiency and utilitarianism as a manner of paddles for the turn signals and windshield wipers. It is easy to keep clean, and I enjoy the general aesthetics of my vehicle.
Cons
This vehicle has had a number of mandatory safety recalls...airbag, gas filter, and another. These recalls have required repairs to be conducted, for free, at Volkswagen dealers. However, it makes me feel as though the value of my car has decreased more, in light of other scandals to arise in the last few years. The European hardware sometimes requires weird screwdrivers that don't allow for a lot of home repairs.
