I leased a 2015 VW Passat Limited Edition TSi in November of 2015. I was looking to lease a vehicle that was smaller engine and size than the car I had at the time, I wanted to “downgrade” a little since it was a commuter car. I did want to keep a few features with the downgrade, After looking at numerous cars, I picked the Volkswagen Passat since it was a reasonable overall price and had a great lease deal. It also had a smaller engine and fit the smaller sedan profile I was looking for. Unlike all the other cars I looked at it was still roomy inside; you can actually sit in the backseat. It also was equipped with all the features I wanted without a dramatic price jump like the other dealers were for the same features. When I test drove the Passat I was impressed with turbo power it h... (more)
Story
My memories of this car are all unfortunately not fun since this happened so soon after the lease purchase. But, I do have a unique story that the General Manager of the dealership actually drove my car for two weeks back and forth from home to work to address and find all issues with my car and loaned me a 2016 Passat to see if it had the same problems. Not every day some one that high up in ... (more)
Pros
As I mentioned in the overall description, since I focused on the reasons I purchased the car. I think Volkswagen did a good job at including the features I like such as seat heaters, remote start, keyless-remote entry, leather interior, sport mode, turbo, good gas mileage, rear view back-up camera and a small yet roomy interior and trunk. Trust me I have put the seat down in the back and fit a large area rug through the trunk and backseat, it is quite roomy. It was very easy to drive and felt very comfortable. I could tell it was a downgrade from my last car, but I was still happy with it... (more)
Cons
After the first few months, I start having small problems with the car such as back-up camera not working, seat belt alerting with seat belts on, wear of the tires extremely fast and constant loss of pressure, air conditioning leaking and worse gas mileage. Then more things kept occurring: shifting early or late and noises sometimes with the transmission, hesitation when accelerating, inconsistent braking, and engine smelling like it was on fire coming through my vents.

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat SEL that I leased is a decent vehicle. The exterior styling is basic in design with nothing outstanding to be noted. The interior is very roomy, which is one of the reasons I considered this vehicle. The interior gives the illusion of some luxury with the addition of faux wood trim instead of the usual plastic trim. It does offer a superior sound system with high-quality speakers. I do not like the faux-suede inserts with the leather seats, as they tend to be harder to clean. My main dislike is of the back-up camera system that takes a full 90 seconds to activate.
Pros
Some of the favorite features of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat SEL is the roominess of the interior compared to other vehicles in this class, both in the front and rear. The suspension is not stiff, which I prefer for a smoother, more comfortable ride. The instruments are positioned well and are easy to see and use. I especially like the controls for the radio, cruise control and phone on the steering wheel, making them very easy and convenient to use. I also love the sound system and the high-quality speakers that come in this model.
Cons
The top negatives of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat are the trunk, the back-up camera and the material used for the seats. The trunk does not offer a light, which makes it hard to see when it is dark. Also, the trunk lid hinge brackets are designed in a manner that can crush items directly underneath when the trunk is being closed. The most important negative that I find with this model is the back-up camera. It takes almost a full 90 seconds for the camera mode to activate when the car is started, leaving it basically useless.
