The Volkswagen Jetta 2.5SE has been a stable car, albeit with questionable reliability at times. Having driven 75,000 miles (mostly freeway miles) with my vehicle over the past four years, I don't have many complaints. I've had a few mechanical issues dealing with leaks. The line from my gas tank to the engine has leaked on multiple occasions and one in which my vehicle stalled (automatic transmission) in the middle of the freeway. Aside from the few defects, the vehicle runs smoothly and comfortably. The SE trim with convenience package adds a nice touch, especially because of the enlarged touch screen, as compared to the base SE model. Overall, the vehicle is good and decent, but lacks the mechanical foundation one would expect from a German-engineered vehicle. Superficially, the ... (more)
Story
Because the 2.5SE with convenience package comes with a sun-roof that I hardly used, my girlfriend suggested that I use it one day. It was very hot and sunny, but driving around with the air conditioner on was great! It wasn't until I got home that I noticed my arm had tanned from the sun shining through the sunroof.
Pros
The best thing about the Volkswagen Jetta is the look and feel of the interior and exterior. As Volkswagen is a subsidiary of Audi, the exterior of the Jetta looks comparable to the Audi A4. A nice touch to the interior is the leather seats. Because of the leather seats, the car feels like luxury. The added heated seats make a great addition and is especially useful during the winter season in Los Angeles. The seating in the car is fairly spacious; I've never had a complaint about space from my passengers. The software on the touch screen is decent--the interface isn't the best and somet... (more)
Cons
The top negatives about the Volkswagen Jetta must stem from the mechanical issues. Volkswagen has a reputation for expensive parts, but having to purchase parts so early into the life of the car is unexpected. Although mostly reliable, the car has stalled on me while driving in the middle of the freeway and has continuously stalled after pumping gas due to a persistent leak in the fuel line (Volkswagen's service department "fixes" the issue every time it arises). Another con about the vehicle is the life of the windshield-wiper motor. In the past four years, I've had to purchase two repla... (more)

This car is fun and really functional. I really wanted a Turbo model, and with the price being comparable, we bought it. The Turbo is great for pickup, I've driven other small cars and know that pickup and passing can be problematic for smaller engines. Not this one! What's also great about the Turbo is that on most other cars with Turbo, they have to run Premium gas. The Jetta SE runs regular. And they designed it to have a smaller motor than the regular Jetta so it uses less gas than the regular one. It's beautiful, and fun to drive. I'm really happy with the interior and exterior styling, and I love light interiors. VW gave it a light interior that feels very bright and cool, even in summer. The exterior is distinctive and a gorgeous shade of blue that really caught my eye when I ... (more)
Story
We have driven it to the shore (NJ) several times this year. I think it looks like a fun summer car. (Sorry, that's all I got)
Pros
1- The Turbo. Love it, can't believe that it has such great MPG (43 mpg for me on trips) and runs regular unleaded gas. It makes the car so much fun to drive and very dependable when you need to move quickly. 2- Exterior styling. Updated, looks great 3- Interior styling. Pretty, bright, cool 4- VW quality. I have no doubt that it's going to last me a long time. 5- The trunk is huge for a small sedan. 6- Entertainment system if fine, nothing fancy. 7- The price is very reasonable.
Cons
The Bluetooth goes in and out. It will lose the connection to my phone easily. The back glass needs to be tinted. The upper back behind the back seats is white, and in the summer time it can be hard to see out of the back glass due to glare. I've already had to have the front end aligned in less than 7 months. I don't know if that is due to NJ roads or the car, but I'm not happy about that. VW changed some of the styling after my model, and I like some of the things they did for the 2015.
