Overall this car is extremely well made and a joy to drive. It hums along the road quietly and has many features that make the car comfortable on long trips. The car is spacious without being too big. Volvo is one of the safest cars on the road and certainly gives you an extra bit of confidence compared to driving say a Honda. All in all I would highly recommend the S80 or the smaller S60 to anyone that is going to spend quite a bit of time in a car.
Story
I had a lot of fun traveling across California, coming to different bicycle races in this car.
Pros
Certainly the fuel mileage was a standout feature. I didn't expect a care of the size to use so little. As previously mentioned the cars construction and safety features are truly something that sets the brand Volvo apart from other manufactures. If you are like me and like to get your hands dirty, you'll find that the Volvo is a pretty easy car to work on. Last the quality of the interior is something that puts you at ease and leaves you not dreading those long road trips.
Cons
The cup holders are horrible. It's not the lack of them that hurts this car, it's that there really only one cup holder in the front that can do it's job. So get used to having mugs flying around the cabin during drives. Also the s80 has over 15 different computers. This can sometimes make breakdowns a bit of a headache and a bit expensive.

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word reliable is Honda. I would like to shed some light on this common misconception that Honda is the only affordable and reliable brand for the working class. Volvo is a company that produces somewhat plain looking vehicles but I think that is what has lead to it being overlooked by the average working class consumer. Take the time to get behind the wheel of a Volvo and you will be surprised to find that the driving experience it offers really does have personality of it's own and requires very little effort to drive. Once I drove one for the first time I fell in love and purchased a 2001 Volvo S80 which is a four door sedan with a V6. When it comes to the simple things, Volvo has done it right. Little things that you don't notice ... (more)
Story
Where I live I am about an hour away from a very large and popular lake. During the summer, driving to this lake can be expensive on gas. I found that I could fit five of my friends in the vehicle and still have enough elbow room to make the hour long drive comfortable. With the help of the breeze coming from the sunroof and some music playing through the eight premium speakers, we had so much... (more)
Pros
The Volvo S80 comes with an interior of leather, and various vinyls that make for very easy cleaning. The layout of the interior is very pleasant as well. You will find all your controls at arms reach and a convenient middle console that you can rest your arm on, it even has a cushion. Another item I especially like are the door handles. Yes I know This is odd but they really did a great job at producing handles that are easy to grab, yet lay flush, and don't get freezing cold. Besides the arm rest I mentioned, (which is a necessity for me personally) the interior provides a lot of space t... (more)
Cons
The only drawback to the Volvo S80 is that it is a foreign brand, so expect to pay a little extra on maintenance and repairs.
