The 2014 Volvo S80 2.5L 2WD is a solid performer with style, luxury and just about anything one could want in a four-door sedan. It has proven to be reliable and able to handle most road conditions. Most people would agree it has class without being overstated. The turbo-charged, five-cylinder engine has plenty of power for passing or getting out of a jam in the city or on the freeway. The fuel efficiency is great too for a car of its size. It has all the things one could want for that long-distance drive or a quick trip to the grocery store. Equipped with leather seats, a great sound system and the little details such as a sunroof, one is sure to be happy with the choice. The large wheels and tires grab the road and give the driver the feeling of confidence. As far as safety go... (more)
Story
I drove it several times between Atlanta and Wichita, Kansas. One time it had snowed, and the Kansas Turnpike was backed up with a long string of cars. I passed them and blazed a trail of others to follow. The thing ate up snow like it was a 4WD.
Pros
Nice power combined with good fuel efficiency all in a luxury wrapping… Great safety and reliability are built-in.
Cons
High parts and repair costs... Parts are sometimes hard to find and, more often than not, are quite expensive.

Overall, there isn’t a great deal to complain about. So far, it has been a great car with bad surprises. It rides very well, particularly on the highway and interstate.
Story
On the Kansas turnpike, people were stacked up behind a snow plow in a single lane. I took to the un-plowed lane and the car acted like it liked the snow and didn’t become unstable. Others started following be and it broke up the jam.
Pros
It is a good looking car, inside and out. Others have commented on this. It has plenty of power and feels very stable. It is turbo-charged and will “get with it” should the situation require a fast spurt. It gets reasonable good gas mileage, particularly on the highway. The turbo helps in that area too. It is great in the snow and has advanced safety features.
Cons
It could get better gas mileage and is a little larger than I need. That is my fault as I could have pick a smaller model (e.g., S60 or an S40). Parts and repairs are a bit more expensive than the average. Again, that is “on me” since it is a European import.
