2008 GMC Acadia - I loved the car but not the major design flaw.

When it came to looks, it was stylish. I like that it had silver and leather trim. I love that the trim of the vehicle looked expensive. It was more modern looking. The car had a back-up sensor and DVD player. I originally liked that it has a sun roof and a moon roof. I like the powered lift gate and nice rims it came with. I It does alright on gas mileage for a larger vehicle. I wish it had more trunk space available and there were better instructions on how to hear the entertainment center in the back. If it did not have a major flaw design, it would be perfect!!! The sun roof leaks. There was a recall to extend the drains which should fix the problem, but it does not. The drains also get clogged easily and blow off when cleaned out. The leak caused major electronic problems.
Story
My kids and I love to ride around with the sun roof open singing to the stereo system.
Pros
The vehicle has expensive-looking trim. It has an entertainment package for my kids. It has plugins for electronics to be used in the car. I love the back-up sensor since it was my first car with this feature. I love the heated seats in the winter. If not for the one major issue, the car would be perfect!
Cons
The vehicle could used more trunk space. Also, I think the DVD player should have better instructions to hear it better in the back seat. My major issue is the design flaw in the sun roof. We did the recall and extended the drains. However, it did not fix the issue, and the sunroof still leaks. I cannot drive it on days with heavy rain and have to park it under a cover. It rains a lot where I live, and the weather is unpredictable. We have fixed this issue three times, and it is over $500 to do so. The leak causes water to leak into the car onto people as well as make the carpet stink. It ... (more)

What I like about my Acadia is the versatility. It's a great family hauler for long trips, roomy and spacious and it is weighted nicely when other vehicles are passing. I have the captain seats and it's great for times that I have adults riding with me. My kids love riding along and it's the vehicle of choice of the family even when we are not traveling long distances. It has enough power to get around highway traffic and great on gas.
Story
I love the outdoors so I love the sight of pulling my atv in tow and having the camping gear loaded up with my family feels great. Knowing that I have the versatility that I have gives me the confidence to push things to the limit as GMC advertises "we are professional grade"
Pros
I love the tow option that I have on this vehicle. I can hide the tow hitch when not in use and use the select feature when towing a heavy load. Very roomy when picking up items from the local hardware store and the additional racks on top allow for carrying oversized items like ladders and such. And the seating capacity is great. Seven adults can be seated comfortably when traveling locally. Gas mileage is great when traveling. Not what you would expect from a larger SUV such as an Acadia.
Cons
One of the top negative things about this car is the lack of build quality. GM has not done a great job ensuring things will not break as easily. Every year I've owned the vehicle I have spent at least $800-$900 replacing items that wore out prematurely. The luggage/cargo area could have more room. I have a family of four so I have the option of folding down seats as needed, some may not due to larger families. The sound system is not great at all, no speakers in the rear makes it a little frustrating at times when you want to hear that full theater sound.
