2003 GMC Envoy - It has done what I needed it to do with very little service, it's been reliable.

I've had this vehicle for six years. I primarily purchased it for travelling and camping. I would also need to use it for my daily commute. It's a full-size SUV with a split rear seat. The nice thing about the split rear seat is that you can split it so that one seat is left up or two seats are left up. This comes in very handy when you tend to have varying number of people and amounts of cargo you might me hauling at the same time. So it made it versatile enough that I could put a piece of plywood in it (some does hang out the back), haul lumber on one side and have a kid one the other side, or have all the seats up and three kids in the back. It also has a receiver type hitch, which means you can haul just about anything you can haul in a pickup truck. The engine has more power than ... (more)
Story
Best story about this vehicle: I live in Florida and we love to travel. I had two adults, three kids, the trunk loaded with camping gear, the roof rack on top loaded with milk crates full of camping gear and a rack on the receiver with five bicycles and two dirt bikes on it, going uphill in New York State, passing a truck at 60 mph and when I hit the gas, my Envoy took off like I was the only ... Pros
Lots and lots of power when you need it, even under loads. Very spacious interior. Minimal outlay for repairs (things that normally wear out, radiator only big one so far). Sits high, easy to see traffic. Separate A/C and heat control vents and radio for back seat.
Cons
Poor gas mileage in town. Electronics in dash for gages are shot (but digital still works). I can't see if a kid is behind hit because it sits so high.

2003 GMC Envoy - I really like this car.

Overall, I think this is a quality car. I only paid $4,000 for it total, and I think it has more than stood the test of time since that purchase five years ago. It has had the occasional problem with the engine, but it has been able to continue running through that issue. It has a great interior (leather) that is incredibly comfortable. Although this car has many qualities that make it great to me, I think the thing that makes it most special to me is the fact that I had this car through a period of great change in my life, and it was one of the few constants. Maybe it's silly to have such a connection to an inanimate car, but I really think it's special.
Story
I just like to drive, and I have lots a fun memories driving around with friends.
Pros
I like that it is built high off the ground like a truck. It makes me feel safe when I'm driving down the road. It is honestly a really high-quality car for one that is more than fifteen years old, so I can't really complain about much. It is also a blue car, which makes it even more special to me as that is my favorite color. Overall, just a lot of pros to this car.
Cons
I suppose I would rather have had a new car as opposed to a used one, but for the price I paid, I can't really ask for more. I do wish that the engine issues were easier to take care of and not so much of an issue as they are.
