2003 GMC Envoy - It has done what I needed it to do with very little service, it's been reliable.

I've had this vehicle for six years. I primarily purchased it for travelling and camping. I would also need to use it for my daily commute. It's a full-size SUV with a split rear seat. The nice thing about the split rear seat is that you can split it so that one seat is left up or two seats are left up. This comes in very handy when you tend to have varying number of people and amounts of cargo you might me hauling at the same time. So it made it versatile enough that I could put a piece of plywood in it (some does hang out the back), haul lumber on one side and have a kid one the other side, or have all the seats up and three kids in the back. It also has a receiver type hitch, which means you can haul just about anything you can haul in a pickup truck. The engine has more power than ... (more)
Story
Best story about this vehicle: I live in Florida and we love to travel. I had two adults, three kids, the trunk loaded with camping gear, the roof rack on top loaded with milk crates full of camping gear and a rack on the receiver with five bicycles and two dirt bikes on it, going uphill in New York State, passing a truck at 60 mph and when I hit the gas, my Envoy took off like I was the only ... Pros
Lots and lots of power when you need it, even under loads. Very spacious interior. Minimal outlay for repairs (things that normally wear out, radiator only big one so far). Sits high, easy to see traffic. Separate A/C and heat control vents and radio for back seat.
Cons
Poor gas mileage in town. Electronics in dash for gages are shot (but digital still works). I can't see if a kid is behind hit because it sits so high.

I have a 2003 GMC Envoy. It is the first time I have owned a GMC. I purchased this truck in 2007. There was low mileage on the truck, and to this day, I have never had any major problems with the truck. It is average on gas, which I think is great for a SUV. It seats five and is very room for trunk space. I love the vehicle I chose, and I still drive it on long trips. I trust the GMC Envoy enough to know it won't let me down. I have such piece of mind while driving and running short errands or taking long vacation trips. I love my mid-sized SUV.
Story
My family and I used this vehicle on a trip to the mountains. It was lovely; we were able to open the sun roof and just gaze up at the stars as we drove. There were hills and mountains, and the truck drove so smoothly, we never even noticed. It was a great day. We opened the trunk and used our grill to cook out on. It was amazing!
Pros
The truck has a sun roof, which is great during the day and very pretty for a summer night. I love that it gets a lot of mileage to the gallon, and it's a tough vehicle to beat as far as maintenance. It is a midsize SUV, but it is roomy and has lots of leg space, including a large trunk.
Cons
I had to get the sunroof sealed because it began to leak at one point. The seats are light colored cloth, which means stains are hard to come out. Sometimes there is an issue with the fan running heavy when the A/C is on, but it quiets down after about ten minutes. I think this was a factory defect at one point. But it doesn't bother the A/C or the way it drives- so no biggie.
