I purchased the car used. The previous owner was a mechanic. The interior of the car has held up really well with no tears or rips. It runs great for being an older model with no major expensive vehicle fees. I would more than likely buy the same car again in a newer model. It is a great price for the money that it was purchased for. I would have preferred if the radio would have been a better quality. When I purchased this used, the antenna on the outside of the vehicle was missing. The overall purchase price of this used vehicle is well worth the money. I would definitely purchase it again. I have already got 2 years out of this older model.
Story
We love taking the car to the beach. Great air conditioning system keeps us cool on the way there and on the way home!
Pros
The performance is great for a used vehicle. No major repair work had to be completed on the vehicle. It runs well and has great gas mileage. I would recommend this vehicle to a friend looking for a new vehicle. For being a fifteen year old vehicle, the body and paint job have held up well even being in the Florida weather. The steering is easy to turn. The side mirrors are easy to adjust. The interior of the vehicle has held up well for it's age. No noticeable tears and/or rips. Just normal staining on the floorboards.
Cons
We had a problem with the battery draining overnight after first purchase. We took it to the shop a few times. We even purchased two new batteries. Finally, the last time it was in the shop, the mechanic heard a click while looking at the vehicle. The air conditioning system clicked on with no noticeable running. He looked under the battery and saw acid had been eroding the wire to the air conditioning system which turned it on. After fixing the problem, we have had no more battery drains.

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer - Powerful when it runs well.

I like the power this little car has, not at all bad for being so old with 150,000 miles. The little body style is nice and sporty. I am not too fond of the fact I keep having to replace things on it. My mechanic always tells me these cars are overpriced for their class, because the parts are both hard to find and expensive. So if you're not planning on investing quite a bit of money into maintenance and replacing parts, don't buy it. For the money you pay, you're better off looking into something else unless you're a fan of Mitsubishi.
Story
I was the first of my friend group to turn 16, so I was always the one to drive us around to parties in this old Mitsubishi Lancer. I have many fond memories in this car.
Pros
I love the fuel economy. The handling and traction are great. It has a comfortable interior. The breaks are solid. It's pretty fun to drive. I feel safe when driving.
Cons
I'm constantly having to replace parts. Seems like everything began to rattle and squeak after hitting the 100,000 mile mark. The factory speakers aren't that great. Also pretty lacking in the features department. The plastic interior isn't the most stylish. The road noise is pretty loud.
