I love my base model manual Lancer. The interior is black and easy to keep clean. The car runs great and gets great gas mileage (33 mpg on highway). I have had no mechanical issues in my 5 years of owning this car. I have driven this car from Illinois to California and California to Illinois and it performed wonderfully. I have just over 55,000 miles and only had to do required maintenance.
Story
When I was looking for a wedding venue I had my nieces with me. We were driving on the expressway to a venue and one of my nieces got car sick and threw up all over the back seat. We had to pull over and clean it as best as we could and then continued to the venue. We saw the venue it was beautiful and then we took the car to get professionally cleaned. Came out good as new and the venue was t... (more)
Pros
I love that this car is manual. I enjoy driving manual cars and I love the added control I have over the vehicle. The trunk is surprisingly big and can fit lots of boxes for moving across the country! I picked the blue color of the car and it is still a very sharp looking color even 5 years later. I have no rust or any big paint issues. I love the dashboard features, it tells you if a door or the trunk is left open, when you need required maintenance, how many mpg, how many miles you have left in your gas tank and much more.
Cons
The stereo does not get very loud. In order to hear the radio at all, it must be at 20 or higher and it caps out at 45. I wish the back windows were tinted, it gets rather bright in the back seat because of the angle of the windows. The back doors are hard to close, you have to use some force to make sure they are closed all the way.

Great dependable vehicle. I have had no problems with it other than normal wear and tear after hitting 100,000 miles, but I did not have to perform any other maintenance except tune ups and oil changes until that mile marker. I've worked at an auto auction and have driven everything from a Maserati to a Kia, but the positioning of Bluetooth and stereo controls in the Lancer is by far the most functional. The controls are located on the front of the steering wheel in fingertips reach. The car is small but has a surprising amount of room for a sedan. It has been through three moves, including fitting a 32-inch flat screen TV in the backseat. It has also been a good family car. There are numerous locations and ways to put the car seat, including the middle seat. At one point, the car has ... (more)
Story
My husband took me to Corpus Christi for my birthday for a surprise without booking a hotel first. When we got there, there wasn't a hotel under 200 a night because of an event going on. We ended up sleeping in the car next to the beach. It was actually peacefully leaning back in the seat and having a front row seat to the sunrise on the beach.
Pros
Bluetooth connection, great gas mileage, about 26 mpg, and reliable.
Cons
Road noise and lack of technology.
