This car is definitely one sporty workhorse. I drove the first generation Dodge Intrepid that the Charger line replaced and liked how they maintained the roominess of the Intrepid while at the same time beefed up the performance going forward with the Charger. Drive the 3.5L SXT and definitely has a nice get up and go sound to it. Have the room I need for my family, groceries, etc.; manages as a daily driver, and still fun for a scenic drive when gas is cheap.
Story
A few months after I got the car I had to do a lot traveling for work across the state. It was the first time I got to really enjoy driving on the interstate on my own. Turned the music up, watch the countryside go smoothly by. It made starting a new job feel much more worth it.
Pros
While a small thing, one of my favorite things about the car is the separate ac vents built into the back of the center armrest to give the rear passengers their own air outlet. Many of my friends cars don't have that and have to give up their outlet upfront, point it up, to get air to the back, while it isn't a worry at all for me. Just many small details like that I enjoy. The sound system is also really good, on stock audio it still has crisp sound and a full bass feel to it.
Cons
There is a design problem with the rocker arm assembly, had it replaced once under normal at under 50K miles, and again recently at 86K miles. Beyond this there are no real problems I've had with the car beyond normal maintenance. While still a con, but from the 'this was to be expected' column, being closer to a sports car my MPG averages out to about 19. As with any other car, be sure to pay attention for any safety recalls, the last one involved the driver airbag.

I bought the Dodge Charger because I like the exterior style of these vehicles. I had previously owned a Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, which had nice extras. The Charger is the SXT trim, not the higher trim package with the V-8 motor. My car has enough power but the details are lacking. No dual exhaust, seats are not as nice, and the dashboard is plain. This car also has the air on all the time so it always gets too hot or cold without the heater or the air conditioner on. I don't think the quality of the car is the same as my Chevrolet. It has weird quirks, like lately the gas gauge has been moving around. It is also using oil, which is not unusual, but I've never had to put this much oil in one of my newer cars. The trunk space is huge, which is nice. Although taking some of th... (more)
