I have thoroughly enjoyed this truck. It's a four door and, as far as the interior goes,it is extremely spacious. It will comfortably fit six people including the driver. A grown man can easily fit in the backseat of this truck. It is one of the largest cabs I have seen in a truck of this model and year. The interior has an expensive feel to it without the price tag attached. The truck runs great. It is a smooth ride. I will say that this particular engine does not have quite the get up and go that others might. It does have the smaller engine. However, for a 1500 it is plenty. The gas mileage is about what you would expect for a truck around town, as it gets about 15 - 16 mpg, but on the highway it gets over 20 mpg. It does need a leveling kit as the rear end sits up higher than the f... (more)
Story
I as driving this vehicle down a dirt road. It had been raining, I knew it was muddy. I was pretty sure that I could make it through the water in the road. However, it was softer than I thought and I wound up getting stuck and a friend of mine had to come get me out.
Pros
Pros: spaciousness of the interior having four doors having a full backseat motorized windows, locks and mirrors radio with a cd player a full console collapsible cup holders a high set to the frame reliability of the motor ability to tow trailers bed for hauling hay gas mileage on the highway
Cons
Cons: Around town gas mileage set to the front end lack of a tow package smaller engine manual seats 2wd

I call her Bessy - the successor to Betsy, my 1999 Dodge Ram. Bessy is a '01 1500 model 2WD Dodge Ram with a 5.2 liter engine. Her standard exterior is a silver finish which has handled 10+ years of blazing desert sun exposure like an absolute champion. The V8 engine still fires proudly and purrs boastfully as she sails down the freeway. Much like my '99, these trucks never ceased to amaze me with the amount of torque available when and if needed. For big heavy machines, they are surprisingly fast off of the line. I chose to go with a 2nd Dodge Ram after experiencing a blow out on the I-10 freeway in Palm Springs at 2:00am on my way home from LA with 2 girlfriends in tote (one was 5 months pregnant). Being a relatively inexperienced 19 yr old driver, when my left rear tire blew ... (more)
Story
This one is really hard for me to narrow down. There have been so many. I remember fondly with terror the first time I drove her up to the snow. This may be insignificant to most folk, but being in the desert for all of my life, snow is a very foreign surreal thing to me. I was dropping off my significant other to his base after our weekend rendezvous and decided to take the shorter (mount... (more)
Pros
SAFETY!!! Power Dependability Endurance Roominess Attractive Appearance Excellent Steering Has held up to the test of time. Fits an active adventurous lifestyle.
Cons
Gas Mileage Tires are expensive!! (I learned it is never worth getting the cheapest) "They're a nightmare to work on..." per my mechanic. I would not know. Not the smoothest ride, but at least it's roomy. Rear passengers can get too hot in the summer. Size - I appreciate it. However, driving down crowded inner city streets and parking in small spaces presents special challenges at times.

My Dodge Ram 1500 is the best pickup truck I've ever owned. The King cab is roomy. The bed is six feet long and can haul just about anything. The detail in the cab is meticulous. It has a great stereo system. Four adults can ride comfortably. It can take on any kind of weather or road conditions. I live in the country, so the four-wheel-drive is a necessity. My Ram has taken on every kind of dirt road out there and always pulls me through. My son always wants to drive my truck because he thinks it's cool. The gas mileage is way higher than I expected. Even in town, I get over 17 miles per gallon. On the highway, I average about 20 miles per gallon. The height of the vehicle gives me a great view of surrounding traffic and conditions. I've had smaller trucks and trucks of this size but ... (more)
Story
I live on a dirt road that is minimally maintained. When we had a lot of snow, I took my Dodge Ram out to see how she would do. In four-wheel-drive high, it took on drifts that were over a foot tall. We drift-busted our entire road just because we could.
Pros
There are so many pros to owning a Dodge Ram 1500. Mine is equipped with a 5.7 Liter, 8 cylinder Hemi and runs like a champ. This truck is a match for any terrain. The cab itself is spacious and somewhat luxurious for a truck. The seats are comfortable and wear well. It drives so well. The technology included is also a bonus. I can see my average economy, my direction, and range of fuel. Having that information at my fingertips allows me to adjust my driving accordingly to maximize fuel mileage and comfort. The factory stereo is awesome. I listen to many different kinds of music, and they ... (more)
Cons
There are not many negatives with a Dodge Ram 1500. I am short, so the height of the vehicle makes entering the cab a bit of a challenge. Hand holds are available to assist in entry, but it can be a bit of a hassle if you are entering and exiting the truck frequently. The passenger seat has very limited adjustments available, making it somewhat difficult to see all of your surroundings. I wish the passenger side was a little more user-friendly. It can be difficult to adjust the radio or temperature from the right seat. The climate control panel is not lighted, which makes adjusting the tem... (more)
