This pickup is 16 years old. I've only owned it for a year and I have no idea how it was cared for in the past. It has over 170,000 miles on it. When I purchased it, it was in need of a starter, 4 tires, brakes, ball joints, some rust, and some other stuff. I've fixed a few of those things, but not all, and now there is something seriously wrong with the fan system. No air comes out of any vents except the defrost. When I turn on the heater, smoke billows out of those vents. The air conditioner works for the first 60 seconds that it's running (again only out of the defrost vents), but then it peters out. The seats have held up okay. The thing runs, but I try not to put too many miles on it. But again, I don't know how much I can expect for the age, the mileage, and not knowing how it w... (more)
Story
We took our dog to a really woodsy dog park (Walnut Creek in Papillion) and she got ticks. She's a runner and we don't have a fenced-in yard, so we were trying to figure out how to wash the ticks off of her. Finally we put her in the back of the pickup (which has a plastic bed-liner) and we washed her in that. The water ran out nicely, and it washing her worked to remove the ticks, too.
Pros
I like the body style. The fact that it is a pickup with a full-sized bed has allowed me to work on lots of home projects that require hauling things that won't fit or are inappropriate for a nice car. And every weekend this summer, my family and I have loaded it up with kayaks and gone to nearby lakes. It's also nice to throw our bicycles in the back instead of strapping them in some intricate system onto the car. And the fact that it still runs also makes this possible. Perspective, right?
Cons
The aircon/heating system is messed up, which probably doesn't have anything to do with how it was cared for. Another thing that seems to stem from the build quality is the rust above all of the wheel wells and under the doors.

This truck is an old go getter that never lets you down. We live in a snow state, and it has pushed through many long winter days. I bought the truck for its extended bed and towing ability. We take this truck camping after the purchase of our camper. We found that the 7 ft. bed is another camper itself. After putting a camper cap on it, there is more than enough room for two people and the dogs inside. The truck is fun to drive and has amazing gas mileage for such a large vehicle.
Story
I towed my new RV home in this truck. I drove four hours down state two weeks after I bought the truck to pick up the RV with no clue about how it would handle when towing. It towed the RV like a champ with no swaying at all. It was a great experience buying my new RV in my new but old truck.
Pros
This truck was bought two years ago with 100,000 miles on it. Its now almost 20 years old and still runs like it just came off of the lot. The extended bed version will leave you asking why you even bought a trailer. I have often just loaded the bed and left the trailer at home. We purchased a camping cap to take the truck into the mountains, and we have never gotten stuck once. I have actually pulled out other trucks! Somehow this beast gets 26 mpg. It takes a bit to fill up but the tank will last you for awhile.
Cons
The truck's interior is plain as plain can be, and the sound system is very poor. Rust is this truck's best friend so take care of the rust as soon as you see it or it will eat this body alive.
