2011 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 - 2011 Dodge Ram 2500
I bought my 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6500 miles on it in 2014. I have the Laramie package which includes heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, reverse camera, all leather interior, premium sound, etc. My first impressions were that this is a beautiful truck. It has the high output Cummins diesel, which was a requirement for me. 4 Doors and a long bed were also a requirement, and I was able to find that with this truck. I like the power, the comfort, the amenities, and the fact that it is a large diesel truck. There aren't too many things that I dislike about it. It came with factory tube steps/running boards. There is a bracket in the middle of them, and it came loose on the passenger's side. You can certainly tell something isn't right when you step on it, and it rattles eve... (more)

There is a bracket in the middle of them, and it came loose on the passenger's side. You can certainly tell something isn't right when you step on it, and it rattles every now and then. Another thing I find somewhat annoying is the A pillars create a blind spot, especially on the passenger side. It will block out entire cars and you'll find yourself pulling out in front of people. Performance is good overall. Towing ability is great and more than enough for what I'll need. It is a solid axle heavy duty truck, so it doesn't ride like a Cadillac, but I didn't expect it too. For a truck, the ride is pretty smooth and fairly good overall. The EPA requires more strict emissions controls on diesel engines after 2006, and they hurt the overall performance of the truck. There is a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) that collects the suit produced by combustion. This filter gets full and needs to go through a regeneration, and the only way to do that is to add more fuel and burn out the suit. This significantly decreases fuel mileage. People do modifications that allow the vehicle to operate more efficiently, and I highly recommend that. Overall it's a great truck and I would recommend it to someone looking for a very capable heavy duty truck.
Know the height of your vehicle because it can get a little tight in small areas. Went into a parking garage that had relatively low clearance, cleared the sign, but the sign was wrong. Overall, it's a fun memory but was not fun at the time.

Power, comfort, size, leg room both front and rear, cargo room, towing ability, fuel mileage (with adjustments), reliability (with adjustments).

1998 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 - Best Truck Ever
The 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4 WD with an 8 foot bed has been the best truck I have ever owned. The Cummins Diesel 6 Cylinder 24 valve engine has never missed, always started, and run better than I ever expected. The body work has always been sound, paint never peeled, and the finish has always remained clear and bright. This was a factory direct order truck, as these options were not common on any dealer's showroom.

We used to camp next to the James River in Virginia during the summer. One year, I built and carried, a complete portable shower system in the back of my truck, including, a 500 gallon freshwater tank. Everyone was able to take hot showers at our remote camping spot. A smaller truck would never have been able to do that!

The 24 valve Cummins diesel matched to the automatic transmission were a great combination. This year (1998 1/2) was the very first year the 24 valve had been introduced in the Dodge Ram, and was only through special order at the time. The four wheel drive system did not require getting out of the truck to engage, and in high range was "on the fly" which made driving in semi irregular conditions much safer. View from the cab allows seeing long distances, even in heavy traffic, making navigation through traffic easy!

The transmission in the vehicle was not good from the factory. At 75,000 miles, the transmission had to be replace. The first and third gear in the transmission began slipping horribly, and eventually caused a complete breakdown. Passenger front seats were not available with any power options, leaving the passenger to make clumsy manual adjustments. Mechanically, the fuel system required a replacement gas tank fuel pump before 50,000 miles.

2012 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 - Great overall vehicle
My favorite feature of the pickup is hands down the space and comfort of the rear seat. Most pickups have a short bench seat that is stiff and uncomfortable. Although it isn't as comfortable as the captains chairs, they are much more comfortable than other competitors rear seats. I love the heated and cooled seats in the front, the hands free over the speakers is wonderful and the performance of the diesel is wonderful. We have pulled heavy loads in every road condition with the truck and it feels very easy and comfortable to drive while fully loaded, you don't even know you have a load on most of the time it's so smooth.

Trips with the family. We travel 11+ hours to visit family and it's always enjoyable even with 4 adults and a child in a booster seat. We always have great trips

Great space and comfort of the rear seat, heated and cooled seats in the front, the hands free over the speakers, good performance, pulls smooth, rear view camera, reclining rear seats, storage under rear seat while it's in the upward position, folding of the seats to lay flat,

It would be nice to have cooled seats in the back, the rear vents located on the ceiling perhaps. It's an expensive purchase, but worth it.
