2009 Kia Sedona Owner Ratings & Reviews

2009 Kia Sedona - Good car for a big family
This van is a nice van if you have a large family. It seats up to seven very comfortably. Both back doors open making it easy for people to get into the back seats. The trunk space is not bad. It could be bigger, but the seats fold down easily to make more room if necessary. The drive is smooth, and gas mileage is pretty good for a van of its size. There is separate heat and A/C controls for the front and the back, and the windows in the back doors both roll down, which is a very nice touch. The radio and speakers sound really good, and there is a small table with four cup holders in between the front seats that can be folded down.
Story
This van has gotten us to and from sporting events as well as family vacations. We have been on many family picnics and have had a few good, fun trips to the drive-in movies.
Pros
The top things I like about this car is the leg room. Both back doors open, and that makes it easy for passengers to get in and out. Both rows of back seats fold down easily to make for more space for hauling big loads. The back door windows both roll down making it better on days where you don't want to use the A/C. The heat and A/C in the front and back have their own controllers, and there are four air vents in the back that can be easily shut if someone does not want the air blown on them. The stereo has a very nice sound, and there are quite a few speakers. Overall, I really like this... (more)
Cons
Top cons about this van. The trunk is harder to close. You really need to slam it or it wont latch all the way. The front automatic window on the driver's side does not roll back up automatically. The trunk is on the small side. It is very deep, so you can lower the seats into it for more space, but it does not hold much otherwise. There is no Bluetooth, so you need a auxiliary cable to listen to your music device. The doors are not automatic and must be shut by hand. The trunk is the biggest issue, as it raises up very high and can be harder to shut if you are on the shorter side like I am.
2009 Kia Sedona - Has been a very reliable mini-van
We purchased this van because of the top 3 mini-vans rated for safety, this one was the most affordable without giving up safety. It has been a very reliable van. We have not had to do any repairs on the van, save the typical upkeep for automotive care. It has more than enough acceleration to drive on freeways as well as good enough handling to take on windy back roads. We have even taken the van off-road a little bit, and never had any trouble.
The gas mileage was another factor, we wanted something that got decent mileage, and it has given us that. While not as good as a smaller car, it keeps our gas expenses low.
Story
My kids love to have the adjustable seats and space in the van when we visit the drive through safari park and they don't have to stay in their seats. Allowing them to crawl around to see the different animals.
Pros
It was much more affordable than the comparable mini-vans.
The acceleration and handling has been superb for a mini-van, handling everything from back roads and gravel roads to Los Angeles freeways.
There is enough space that we have moved desks, tables, shelving units and even a sectional couch in it.
The safety features are comparable with vans almost twice as expensive.
The driver seats are comfortable on long drives, other vehicles I've owned have left me very sore after long trips.
Cons
The back seats are not really made for full grown adults. The height from the floor to the seat is about 12 inches... Leaving next to no leg room.
The captain chairs have proven to be difficult to get in and out and the cables that pull the clamps have stretched to the point of uselessness.
The plastic used around the interior of the van has proven semi-weak... Having broke or cracked in two spots when weight from cargo shifted.
