The first thing I liked was the price. I bought it used in 2013, for around $8,000. It only had around 75,000 miles on it, which in comparison to other vehicles I was looking at around the same price, was low. Many other cars had well over 100,000 miles for that price. I also liked the way it looked. I like the look of a SUV, but I didn't want some huge vehicle that is hard to park and takes up too much space. This was perfect. It's a smaller SUV, but still has nice features that you would expect from this type of vehicle. The back door has the option of just opening the window instead of the whole door. This works great if you're transporting something that is long, because you can simply open the window to allow it to fit, and don't have to leave to whole door open while you're drivi... (more)
Story
The only memorable story I have about my Kia is driving it home for the first time. It's the nicest thing I've owned my entire life, and I was really happy to be taking it home!
Pros
My favorite thing about the vehicle was that it was a real bargain when compared to some of the other vehicles I was looking at for around the same price. I was happy to get something with less than 100,000 miles with the money that I had to work with. This was well below that at around 75,000 miles. I also liked how it drove. I've only owned used cars my whole life. Some of them just don't handle good. My Kia Sportage handles great. The alignment is good. The acceleration and braking are both great. No complaints there. It is good for moving things around too. The back seats fold down, t... (more)
Cons
I don't have many negative things to say about this vehicle. The interior is a light beige color and so is the floor. This looks really nice, but also doesn't hide dirt at all. After working in a dirty factory every night and then getting into the Kia, you can notice black marks on the seat and floor. I'm sure this could be cleaned or fixed with different floor mats and a seat cover so I didn't think it was that big of a deal. The stock CD player didn't have a USB port or AUX jack. No Bluetooth or navigation either. I really didn't expect it to, but an AUX jack at least would have been nic... (more)

59,000 Miles and counting! I do not know if it is the quality of the parts or Kia's dedication to customer satisfaction, but this Sportage is determined to live a good long life. I purchased this car 8 years ago when my daughter was born to replace a cumbersome and unreliable van. Not once has it broken down, or even began to show symptoms of aging. This car was well put together. Although designed as more of a mini SUV, it is very spacious ad seats 5 comfortably, or 4 with one car seat. She performs well with the 4 liter engine, and can get up and go when I need her to. I feel safe with this vehicle, unlike many competitors vehicles. By no means is this a racing vehicle for the speed demon teen or a drifter, but she can certainly turn on a dime, and handle even the most arduous road c... (more)
Story
Goodness there are so many good times linked to this Sportage. We have gone camping, tailgated, gone to the beach, spent time fishing out of the back of the car. She has been our go to in power outages for entertainment, and a safe family vehicle. Go Tinkerbell! (She is Green!) One winter our power went out for four days, and our Sportage made it possible for us to weather the bitter cold by p... (more)
Pros
1. Fold down and adjustable seats in the rear make this an ideal car for both Family and individual use. This also allows for easy cleaning in hard to reach places. 2. I conduct business and personal matters out of this car. Multiple light sockets make this easier to accomplish 3. This was made for day trips and family outings, boasting a rear hatch that serves in either window or door modes. 4. The vehicle can have a hitch hooked up to it for easy smaller hauls, such as that BBQ collecting dust. 5.The best pro is the room it affords both the Driver and passengers. Also, there are storage ... (more)
Cons
1. There have been a few recalls on faulty items, but they are all covered and have been easily repaired. 2. The Car is very easy to Slim Jim, and the metal doors are not as strong as expected, being prone to warp. 3. The logos eventually peel, and he window liners need repair when exposed to the elements for many years. 5. There is a major roll over risk.
