2010 Mazda Mazda5 - Great car unless you have a big family

Overall I like this vehicle. It drives well and I haven't had any mechanical problems with it in the four years since purchasing it. What originally attracted me to it is that it has seating for six. I have a family of five and did not want to buy a minivan or a big SUV. This car gave me the seating I needed, without having to purchase something large. It is good on gas and it doesn't look like a "mom-mobile". However, I thought there was going to be more room than there is. Once I get my three kids in the car, there is little room for anything else. There is absolutely no trunk space. If I want to go grocery shopping, I have to go without the kids because there is no place for groceries. I also worry about the safety of my two children seated in the very back. I fear that if we were r... (more)
Story
I don't have any fun stories about this car.
Pros
My favorite thing about this vehicle is that it gives me the seating I need without the huge car or van I do not want. Many people don't realize until they look inside that there is a third row in the vehicle. It is small and easy to control and drive. I also like that the rear doors slide open. I don't have to worry about my kids flinging open there doors in a parking lot and hitting other cars.
Cons
I am really unhappy with the trunk space in this vehicle. There is none. I can barely fit a bottle of windshield washer fluid back there. When I go shopping, I have to put all of my bags all over the back seats. I can't take my kids with me if I am planning on buying a lot. I am also very concerned about my two children sitting in the third row. There is very little cushion between where they are sitting and the bumper of the car. I worry about someone rear ending me and hitting them.

I love the room in my Mazda 5. We are all tall in my family but have plenty of leg room, so as we travel to activities or run errands together. It rides smoothly, enabling us to be comfortable and relaxed while traveling. We keep the third row of seats flat, giving us plenty of room for groceries, and we can put the second row partially down for hauling larger items. It is much taller than my previous car, and while it sounds minor, being able to reach the ticket machine in a parking garage without having to unbuckle and open a door is very convenient.
Story
When we first got it, I drove it to another city, supposedly for ice cream. I just wanted to give it a good try.
Pros
I love how this vehicle has plenty of room for us to feel comfortable yet still be able to hold our weekly shopping. The smooth ride makes driving actually enjoyable (something I had thought impossible), and the gas mileage is quite good, giving me more reason to want to take it on these enjoyable drives.
Cons
Poor visibility over the "nose" of the vehicle and a low body resulted in (on separate occasions) bumping a curb and a rock border when parking. I also wished the doors auto locked as soon as it is put in drive, as driving within the city speed limits will not trigger the locking mechanism.
