The Mazda5 is essentially the Mazda minivan. It seats 6, so it has plenty of room for kids and friends, and the seats are easily maneuverable. For a minivan, it has great gas mileage - around 24-26 mpg, and it is not overly bulky. After driving 60,000 miles, we have not yet had major maintenance issues and the car performs reliably in all weather.
Story
We once took a day trip north of Trenton to see Washington's Crossing. Once we finished, we crossed the bridge at the crossing, and quickly realized that we had to pull in our mirrors if we were going to make it across!
Pros
We appreciated the size of the minivan, as well as the room - both for passengers and for belongings. We have found this to be perfect for our long car trips, even though it may not be quite enough for a larger family. It also handles well in all weather, including rain and snow.
Cons
Even with the top model, there are some options that are not available that you would find in a different minivan. In other vans, you have one-button door openers and automatic seats. While these are minor issues, especially considering cost, it would have been a nice feature to have or upgrade to.

I commute about 100 miles each day to and from work. This car has really hung in there with all those miles. It is comfortable even for someone like me who is tall, 6’3”. I also have three children, and this car is roomy enough that I can take all of them to school in it or even take a day trip to the beach. The gas mileage is so-so and is maybe the only thing I would say negatively about this car. The look of it is nice because I feel like I’m driving something sporty, even though it’s very roomy inside.
Story
When my wife and I were Christmas shopping last year, we spent the whole day going around town filling our car up with gifts. By the end of the day, I felt like I was driving Santa’s sleigh instead of a Mazda.
Pros
I really enjoy the trunk space in this car. I can shop for a family of five and fit all of our groceries in the trunk.
