The Mazda 5 is a very reliable vehicle and is useful for families who need a lot of space, but who would prefer the feel of a smaller vehicle. There are sliding doors on both sides, which allows children to choose the side that makes the most sense given the traffic. It is easy to drive with good visibility. It handles like a much smaller car and fits into tight parking spots. Often it is difficult to back up vans and multi-passenger vehicles, but with this one it is easy.
Story
While the kids were at school, I was able to find a desk and bookshelves for their room and everything fit in the back.
Pros
The most important feature is the third row of seating. The Mazda 5 seats six passengers. All of the rear seats can also fold down for ample space to haul. The sliding doors on both side are excellent. The car handles very well and gets good mileage.
Cons
A minor con is that weight ratio makes it so that sometimes it slips when starting from a stop on a wet street.

The Mazda5 is essentially the Mazda minivan. It seats 6, so it has plenty of room for kids and friends, and the seats are easily maneuverable. For a minivan, it has great gas mileage - around 24-26 mpg, and it is not overly bulky. After driving 60,000 miles, we have not yet had major maintenance issues and the car performs reliably in all weather.
Story
We once took a day trip north of Trenton to see Washington's Crossing. Once we finished, we crossed the bridge at the crossing, and quickly realized that we had to pull in our mirrors if we were going to make it across!
Pros
We appreciated the size of the minivan, as well as the room - both for passengers and for belongings. We have found this to be perfect for our long car trips, even though it may not be quite enough for a larger family. It also handles well in all weather, including rain and snow.
Cons
Even with the top model, there are some options that are not available that you would find in a different minivan. In other vans, you have one-button door openers and automatic seats. While these are minor issues, especially considering cost, it would have been a nice feature to have or upgrade to.
