This is the perfect car for a small family. The third-row seating can be put down separately so there is a flexibility with seating arrangements and cargo compartment. Although, the cargo compartment is almost useless with all seats up as it does not even fit a full-sized stroller or a normal suitcase. The car drives smooth and gives the driver the usual zoom-zoom Mazda feeling. It has a pretty powerful sporty engine under the hood and accelerates well. Driving this car is fun and easy. Even dad does not mind to be seen driving this van on the road. The interior is comfortable, spacious and stylish. The sounds system is decent but could be better. There is separate air control for the back seats although it only works with cold air and no heating. The biggest flaw of the interior desig... (more)
Story
We went on a cross-country road trip last summer. We drove from Florida all the way Wyoming to visit the Yellow Stone National Park. We spent four days straight in the car. It was a memorable fun time with my family.
Pros
Fun to drive, spacious comfortable interior, good fuel economy.
Cons
Only two power outlets. Virtually no cargo space with third-row seating up.

The Mazda 5 is a very reliable vehicle and is useful for families who need a lot of space, but who would prefer the feel of a smaller vehicle. There are sliding doors on both sides, which allows children to choose the side that makes the most sense given the traffic. It is easy to drive with good visibility. It handles like a much smaller car and fits into tight parking spots. Often it is difficult to back up vans and multi-passenger vehicles, but with this one it is easy.
Story
While the kids were at school, I was able to find a desk and bookshelves for their room and everything fit in the back.
Pros
The most important feature is the third row of seating. The Mazda 5 seats six passengers. All of the rear seats can also fold down for ample space to haul. The sliding doors on both side are excellent. The car handles very well and gets good mileage.
Cons
A minor con is that weight ratio makes it so that sometimes it slips when starting from a stop on a wet street.
