2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class - Solid German engineering
I have owned this vehicle for a while now, and it's a solid, mid-size sedan. I have 160k+ miles on it, and I've only had to have the vehicles engine serviced once in the decade I've owned it. Driving around on the highway is great and a very smooth ride. It obviously has a European suspension, so taking it on city streets can be a bit bumpy. American roads are notoriously in bad condition in some cities. Although maintenance is a bit expensive, the vehicle is designed to not need constant maintenance. Although, a $200+ oil change every 3,000 miles can be a bit costly. I much prefer American-made vehicles, but our German friends across the pond really know how to make a car. Mercedes is known for their quality products but also their rather Spartan interiors. This isn't a family vehicle... (more)
Story
This was my first vehicle. My late wife and I used this car a lot. I have many fond memories of holding her hand and driving around with her in it.
Pros
This vehicle is great on gas, is really well made, and the well-tuned internals make it a great professional vehicle. It's not a race car, but it's not an economy-class vehicle either. The leather interior is very luxurious and quality made. Good sound system that's stock and not aftermarket.
Cons
Maintenance is really expensive when you have to do it. But since the vehicle is of high quality, you won't have to have it serviced as often as some other lower-quality brands. The interior looks great, but you will not see cup holders or ash trays in these cars. It's a vehicle designed by practical engineers, not marketers.
