The Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec delivers very good value for the price. It is fuel efficient for a vehicle in its class and size, while at the same time providing the level of comfort and luxury you'd expect. The interior is well put together and nicely appointed, even for a base model. The diesel engine is relatively refined, and although audible at slow speeds, fades away on the highway leaving a quiet ride. The suspension is tight and the car handles rather nimbly. The diesel engine provides high amounts of torque, albeit following some turbo lag. The most noticeable low points are the cold shift-qualities of the transmission, which can have a few harsh shifts when you first start driving in the morning, as well as the frequent catalyst and diesel particulate filter regenerations. Story
I once took it to a drive-in movie. It turned out to be a very cozy time as the rest functionality of the climate control, combined with the heat retention of the diesel engine allowed us to enjoy heat and air circulation while other cars around where getting steamed up inside and unable to open windows due to the pouring rain.
Pros
The top positive things about the vehicle are the interior fit and finish, fuel economy, ride quality and engine. The 60/40 split rear seats also provide added convenience when carrying larger items.
Cons
The most noticeable negative attributes are the cold shift qualities of the automatic transmission, the change in driving dynamic during the frequent catalyst and DPF regenerations and the slight turbo lag.

This is a great all-around vehicle. It has Mercedes-Benz legendary build quality, comfort and ride, with the efficiency of a diesel engine. It's smooth and relatively quiet on the highway, although you'll hear some diesel noise while driving around town. The engine provides ample torque that reminds you that this is a modern diesel engine. The technology package, although not the most modern is very competent: the navigation system routes well and is accurate, the Bluetooth hands-free calling works very well and the Harmon-Kardon Logic 7 system sounds excellent. The quality of the interior materials hold up well over the years and remain rattle free.
Story
This was a good vehicle to take friends wine-tasting in Napa. Long road trips don't require a fuel-up and it's comfortable.
Pros
The vehicle rides nicely and has a nice technology package. Navigation, although not touch-screen based, is very competent. Bluetooth hands-free calling works very well on a variety of phones and the Harmon-Kardon Logic 7 system sounds wonderful. Torque is abundant and available throughout the driving range.
Cons
The rear seat can feel cramped for adults when there are taller front passengers, and you can hear some diesel engine noise, primarily while driving at low speeds, around town.
