Comfortable ride
The Grand Marquis is a comfortable ride. It is spacious, with comfortable seats. The engine is very quiet, which makes for an even more pleasant ride. I frequently compare the Grand Marquis to a Cadillac. It has a powerful V8 engine, which is great to have in the winter because it warms you up very quickly. The car handles remarkably well in snowy conditions, with snow tires.

Surprised by Grandpa's Car
I didn't expect to like the Grand Marquis. It has grandpa connotations; and it is a large, rear wheel drive, traditional American car. But it is also spacious, very smooth, easier to maneuver and learn to navigate than I thought it would be, and very reliable. The technology may be old school, but it is also very durable. When needed, parts are plentiful. And almost anyone who knows how to work on cars is willing to work on this car, unlike smaller front wheel drive machines.

Grand Marquis a fine value.
The Mercury Grand Marquis, one of the most recognizable full-size American cars of the last thirty years, is a fine value for a comfortable car. The size, while unwieldy for those used to the smaller cars that now dominate the market, may provide a learning curve for some. Still, that size makes it a sound car for a family with much to do, for a couple that likes to drive a great deal or for the younger man eager to pile in a car with his friends for an impromptu road trip. With regular, routine maintenance, expect 200,000 miles or more. Ours just turned 215,000. The long life of the big, American, Ford engine makes up for any excess expense on gas for it's comparatively low mpg of about 16 city and 24 highway. The power of the 302 cubic inch, 8 cylinder engine also allows a smooth ride and plenty of power for getting out of the way of difficult driving situations. The size and design also add to the safety of passengers.
