I purchased this 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis in 2009 with only ~30,000 miles driven on it. One of the reasons for purchasing the vehicle was the condition it was in, another was the known quality of manufacturing that came with the Mercury brand, and another was the fact that the layout and controls were the same as prior cars I had driven. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have maintained it as best I can considering it was parked outside without a garage to hide it from the elements. But I have continued routine maintenance either doing it myself or at repair places. The only major expenses I have had to incur were replacing parts that hit their life at 100,000 and 150,000 miles. But I have driven the car for 147,000 miles, and it continues to run almost as well as the day I purchased it.
Story
I was driving home late at night, and a Corvette being driven by a man trying to impress his possible girlfriend revved his engine and lurched forward trying to make a lot of noise and show off. I simply did the same to show he wasn't the only one on the road with a V-8 that could make some noise. I noticed that he never tried to rev his engine after that.
Pros
This car came with two bench seats in leather that are very easy to clean. It also came with a CD player and cassette player so that I could use a cassette tape adapter to play from an iPod or mobile phone. The V-8 engine makes it extremely easy to accelerate or maintain a speed on the freeway, and the ride is smooth and comfortable.
Cons
Coming with a V-8 engine and being a luxury sedan, the miles per gallon are not great compared to smaller more compact vehicles. But I have been able to maintain that 25 miles per gallon for most of the life of the car.

This is a great vehicle overall. It is very spacious, has a smooth ride, and the engine is rock solid. The Grand Marquis is rightfully a vehicle that appeals to people who are looking for a luxury ride. The trunk space is massive. You can easily fit several pieces of luggage in the rear. It also sits up to six with ease. The V8 is buttery smooth. At it's current weight, you would not expect the car to accelerate so quickly, but it does. The suspension is a bit tight and handles extremely well. Being a 13 year old car, the leather on the seats have endured many hours of sitting, but still remain un-cracked and resilient as ever. The wood accents are not at all faded. With regular maintenance, this car has aged well. It's no wonder that the Grand Marquis/Crown Victoria were top choice fo... (more)
Story
This car has taken me everywhere from camping in the forest to vacationing at the beach. It also served as my daily driver when I managed a large territory in upstate NY and PA. It's the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven.
Pros
This is a beautifully styled car. It's large and comfortable for long trips and even weekend getaways. It's quiet and after 13 years, it still performs like new. For the DIY crowd, it's very easy to work on.
Cons
The biggest con to owning this car is fuel consumption. At about 18/21 it burns through a tank of gas in no time. Being a large car and rear-wheel drive, it also is squirrel-y in the snow.
