2000 Mercury Grand Marquis OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

Of 25 cars I have owned, it is, overall, the best.
It is a roomy car with plenty of space for family and has a pleasing appearance that looks like an American car. It is a dependable car and has a very nice ride. The style was kept the same for over ten years, so it did not look out-moded over time. The fuel economy was remarkable with a full size, and the powerful V-8 would regularly get over 30 miles per gallon for a trip on cruise control. I drove over 100,000 trouble-free miles in comfort and felt safe. I live in the rust belt, and the car did not rust out so must have had good coatings.

Solid comfy ride but a real pig on gas
Inherited vehicle from my Dad. It is a perfect vehicle for a senior citizen. Very safe, solid and comfy ride. Comes with all the bells and whistles- cold air, great sound system and dash computer that is really nifty. The computer can calculate instantaneous gas mileage for any given moment as well as averages over different driving conditions. This makes the predominant negative feature of this vehicle so painfully obvious. The gas mileage is just horrible- 10-ish for stop and go city driving and maybe 14 or 15 on the freeway.

Reliable, comfortable car
Of each utmost importance is the fact that this car is reliable. Even when it's having a little trouble, it always starts and will get moving. It's also a really hardy car (ours has seen 2 owners and it's fair share of accidentally run over curbs or bumped poles) that comes away unscathed from, at least, minor bumps and bruises. Its also easy to maintain, even for those of us who aren't terribly car savvy - fluids are easy to check and add, clearly labeled, and easy to reach. The fuses are also really easy to find and check and change. The inside of the car is roomy and comfortable with the electric seats and Windows making adjustment really easy. It drives and rides really smoothly and handles like a dream. It's big enough to make the driver feel protected but not so big that it's bulky or awkward. My only dislike when it comes to this car is there aren't enough cup holders!
