Finding a car that can serve reliably and efficiently can be difficult especially when trying to find a car at a fair price. The 2006 Nissan Maxima I drive excels in providing ease of transportation while still remaining as somewhat of a luxurious vehicle. Obviously this car is not as flashy as a sport car or fast as one, but relative to the cost, the 2006 Nissan Maxima is the best car I have ever owned.
Story
Driving around my hometown every Friday night with friends was a pleasant memory that I had with this vehicle. It had many seats without being too large of a vehicle.
Pros
Its engine is fast and powerful without being loud and wasteful. With about a fifty-fifty split between driving on the highway and throughout town, this car averages 25 miles per gallon which still holds to modern standards. The interior is comfortable, easy to maintain, and well insulated.
Cons
This car is starting to become old, so finding one in good condition with little mileage might warrant a steeper price relative to how long the car will last. I have never had an issue with my 2006 Nissan Maxima, but I can tell problems are coming. The brakes will squeak while backing up or after a fresh rainfall, the engine runs louder than modern cars, and to some the body of the car is simply unappealing.

2006 Nissan Maxima - It's OK, but this model has issues.

Overall, this car has performed okay. I was looking for something that was sporty but also had four doors so I could easily drive my three kids around in it. This fit the bill nicely.
Story
I've taken this car on quite a few family trips and it has done well. Some have been out of state and some day trips just around where we live. Overall, it has been a fun car to take on these trips and been comfortable for a family of five.
Pros
It is pleasing to the eye. It has a lot of features that I like. It has good power for a sedan.
Cons
Overall, it's been reliable, but it has had one glaring issue with the transmission. On very hot days with the A/C running, this car has transmission issue and can lose power considerably to the point that it can be unsafe to drive even around town. This has happened three times in the three years I've owned it. I've spoken to two mechanics, and they've said this is simply an issue with this make and model, and there's nothing that can been done about it. So while 99.99% of the time this car is fine, I would not recommend it to anyone.
