The Versa has been a great little car for me. I use it primarily to tool around town and commute to and from work. I have, however, taken it on a few longer road trips and never had a problem with it. I have taken it in for its routine maintenance, but that's all the upkeep it has ever needed. I have had guests in my car on many occasions, and they all seemed to enjoy the ride. For a small commuter-type vehicle, it seems to have a good balance. It doesn't seem to struggle when climbing hills or getting up to speed when merging on the freeway, for example. The hatchback is perfect for groceries or tools, and the back seats still feel roomy. I have been able to put a kid in a car seat in the back, and she was comfortable.
Story
I drove this car to Cape Disappointment where Lewis and Clark stopped at the Pacific end of their explorations. Was neat to see the road marker "Welcome to the edge of the continent!"
Pros
I like that it is reliable and low maintenance. I like that it is economical. I like that it is small enough to be easy to park. It's great that it doesn't feel under powered for an economy car.
Cons
It isn't a speed demon or performance vehicle. It's a practical car. The styling isn't going to stand out or get you noticed if you are into a sporty vehicle. It's a little boring if you care about being flashy.

It's a pretty good option for someone who wants a safe and reliable car without paying a huge price tag. Both the hatchback (version I previously owned) and sedan are compact, making it easy to fit in tight urban parking spots/parallel parking. Seats are mostly comfortable, though it is a bit of a snug ride for anyone say, 6 feet or taller. I like that it's easy enough to maintain and that I can easily use it for going through town for errands, but can also take it on longer highway trips and still feel mostly secure. Also since it isn't a largely popular car type, it isn't as likely to get stolen like some "one key fits all" types of older cars or more desirable cars by car thieves. It does have four cup holders, though they are the smaller kind that don't hold bigger drinks or water ... (more)
Story
When I bought the car at the dealership, there was one sales associate whose wife always makes little trays of sweets and goodies to give to the new car owners. I thought that at a larger dealership that was a nice personal touch!
Pros
Good gas mileage. It isn't a super popular car, so I don't have to pay for the name in some sense, like certain parts. The fact that it has a compact shape is helpful since I live in a somewhat larger city, and sometimes have to utilize street parking. It's a kind of "vanilla" car that makes it really easy to get from point A to point B. I also know from experience that the car is safe, as the version I previously owned was the one I had my first major auto accident in. I was T boned at an intersection and even though the side of the car got the worst of it, I inside was completely fine an... (more)
Cons
For the particular version I have, the standard, I wish I had automatic windows and locks for safety features. However even though I previously owned the SL version, neither came with an AUX hookup to use an MP3 player of any sort, so your only choices are CD's or the radio. I'm noticing over the time that the seating isn't as comfortable as it could be, compared to other similar sedans (or our other family car, which is a Volvo of the same age range.) The cup holders are there, four of them in fact, but they are the smaller size. They're all small things, but things that ultimately make t... (more)
