2002 Nissan Xterra - Love my ride
I love my Xterra. I have driven it across the country 4 times and gone on many additional road trips. I believe the gas mileage is good for an SUV of that year. The car has 4 wheel drive which is a life saver during the winter. I love the stadium seating (back row of seats is higher than the front seats, it feels like there's more room back there). I love how the seats fold down and you can "car camp" pretty comfortably. For the most part, the engine is a soft purr but it can be a little squeaky when I first start it if it's really cold/hot outside. It drives/handles nice in all weather.
Story
My favorite memory is moving across country. I had just bought my Xterra to pull a uhaul trail and was a little worried at how it would do. Turns out there was nothing to worry about. I ended up making many detours to see cool things because the car was such a trooper.
Pros
Seats that fold down and create enough room to sleep. Stadium seating gives the feel of more room in the backseat. Everything is easy to find like the latch that opens the hood. The 4 wheel drive is an awesome feature, I use it every winter and have never had an issue getting around.
Cons
I do not like having to use the upgraded fuel which costs more. I also don't like that there aren't any air vents in the backseat area. Alos, the back windows don't roll down all the way.
2002 Nissan Xterra - You can count on Nissan.
I have owned three Nissans over the years and I love this company. Currently I drive a 2002 Xterra nearing 200,000 miles My mechanic says I will easily get 300,000 out of this beauty. Prior to buying the Xterra I owned a Nissan Crew Cab Frontier. I drove this truck for many years and finally let her go when she had 280,000 miles. The Xterra is quite similar to the Frontier but better! It comfortably seats five passengers, with ample leg room. This is a great, dependable vehicle that you can count on it. As to be expected, an SUV of this size isn't going to get the greatest gas mileage but this is the only major drawback.
Story
I drove to the San Ysidro border of Mexico to pick up a greyhound that had been injured at the Caliente Race Track. I was able to safely transport this hound to the Vet in San Diego. This story has a happy ending as this sweet hound received needed medical treatment and then found their forever adoptive home.
Pros
Seats fold down without having to fully remove them from the vehicle. I own two large dogs and the Xterra easily accommodates them, with room to spare for all of my camping gear. The racks on top afford lots of additional storage options. This is a dependable, sturdy vehicle and handles well. You don't have to worry about rust; and this comes from an owner who lives a block from the Pacific Ocean.
Cons
Poor gas mileage, but this is to be expected given its size and weight.
