A purpose built vehicle
The Nissan Xterra is a vehicle built to be reliable and functional. The tag line of this vehicle was "Everything you need, nothing you don't". That pretty much sums it up. This vehicle is not full of bells and whistles that do nothing but drive up the price. The 4-wheel drive works great and gets me through the upstate NY winters with ease. The only reason I have to snow blow my driveway now is so my wife can get her car in. The interior is basic but comfortable with all the controls being in easy reach and intuitive. The cargo area is lined with a hard plastic that allows you to haul anything without worrying about ruining your carpet. There are also adjustable cargo tie downs in the rear that give you multiple options for securing cargo. There is a first-aid kit built into the back hatch door, which when you have kids comes in pretty handy. On the roof there is a small cargo hatch for wet items that you don't want in the main compartment and it is ventilated to facilitate drying. The engine is a 265 HP V-6 that has more than enough power to get up and go on the highway or blast down a rut filled fire road to get to camp. In conclusion, I have to say that I am very pleased with this vehicle and devastated that they will no longer be making it as I was already planning on buying a new one.

Best SUV I have ever owned
The Nissan Xterra. I absolutely love it. It handles so well, turns smoothly, rides great. I love the roomy interior. I love just about everything about it.
