1998 Toyota Avalon Owner Ratings & Reviews

1998 Toyota Avalon - I really love this car.
The car is very dependable, and I haven't had any internal problems with it. The car also has very good gas mileage. I am not a huge fan of the exterior of the car, but it isn't necessarily a huge eye sore. There is hardly any rust on the outside of the vehicle. It just appears to be a much older car. I really love the car and would recommend it to a friend.
Story
One of my best friends and I used this car to do a rock climbing road trip across the United States. We drove from Omaha Nebraska to Salt Lake City to San Francisco to Los Angeles and then back home. All along the way my friend and I camped out in national parks. My favorite memory was the fact that we would just hang out in the front seat and chat. There was no rush ever on the trip because w... Pros
This car has great gas mileage and is very easy to drive. I've taken it on many road trips and never had any trouble with it. There is also a very large trunk which makes it easy to store lots of things inside. The interior of the car is very clearly labeled which allows me to change the oil without any trouble. The last thing that I like about this car is the sound system. I am able to play my own music which is very important to me.
Cons
The car is quite old now, and the exterior is a testament to that. It is not a stylish car by any means. Also the interior of the car is not very appealing. It is a brownish leather that my friends like to make fun of. Also some of the air conditioning vents have broken. A final negative thing is that the windshield wiper fluid doesn't work.
1998 Toyota Avalon - Reliable and Spacious
I like the size of my car. It's a really comfortable ride and I know where all of the little pieces in it are. I also have no trouble reading the manual if I need to find something or easily Googling it when I cant completely figure something out. I can pack up my stuff and get from point A to point B without having to have a second car come and help me move my things around.
Story
Once I almost got into someone else's car because they are so popular where I live.
Pros
For an old car I get great gas mileage. I travel a lot for work and right now my average is about 27 mpg. It is super easy to clean all of the parts of it. It also has a lot of compartments that I can easily store stuff in, but they are in useful places and never really add-ins. You see the automakers put them there because there was space and need, just not for kicks. It is also not too old, since I can still use a charger to charge my phone while driving.
Cons
It is very easy to break weird parts of this car and then never be able to figure out what they are. For instance I nudged my car on a sidewalk and now the air conditioning unit is making a weird noise. It also didn't warn me when the battery died. It doesn't have any place for a usb converter to play music from my phone or iPod either. Another sad part is that the seat doesn't go up super high so I am always low riding and can never see over the nose of my car.
