Current daily driver with lots of mileage and hasn't failed me yet. It is a sturdy vehicle with a good amount of storage space and third-row seating for when I need it. I have two kids and there is enough space for them, my dog, my husband and all of our stuff for vacation. It has done well with towing our boat as well. I have found that the adjustable roof rack really comes in handy. The biggest issue that I have had with it is that I have needed to make a lot of repairs due to "wear and tear" that I have never experienced with other vehicles. It does have a sun roof however Toyota has discontinued the parts necessary to fix it so it is just for looks.
Story
This vehicle has been used on many road trips/vacations/boat trips. While it is very expense and not good on gas, it holds my entire family and all of our stuff.
Pros
My favorite things about the car is that there is a lot of room. My family is constantly growing and the car has accommodated us so far. The version that I have is one of the upgraded models so it has power windows, door locks, etc. I enjoy the fact that the third-row seats are virtually invisible when they are not in use and the second row of seats can fold down as well and are split in a way that I can have both kids in the back but still fit larger items. The second row adjusts as well to give more leg room for the third row. There is also heat in the third-row seating that can be turne... (more)
Cons
I would say the biggest con about the vehicle is the price of maintenance and the lack of parts availability. Even though this is an older vehicle, there are some parts that I have not been able to find for many years since they updated the Highlander. This is unfortunate for many reasons, the main reason being that it is the main issue with the vehicle and I would be able to keep it on the road for many years to come if parts were available. Along with the parts issue, the vehicle is pretty terrible on gas because it is a v8. This make is one of the more expensive vehicles I have ever owned.

I have thoroughly enjoyed owning a Highlander. The size is ideal for an SUV, as it is large enough to accommodate three rows of passengers, without becoming so large that you feel as if you are driving a tank. Despite its smaller size for an SUV, it still has no problem pulling a trailer and driving down rough gravel roads. Despite the delightful day-to-day ownership of the vehicle, it has had a few minor issues requires maintenance, such as a broken sunroof and warped break pads. However, maintenance is to be expected on any vehicle of this age and which has had over 170,000 miles. One of the most convenient features for me has been the durability of the vehicle. I spend a great deal of my time at farms and therefore often track dirt and mud into the vehicle. Despite this, I have neve... (more)
Story
Shortly after I got my license, I was asked to take a colleague's two baby goats back to her house while she went to school. I was extremely excited to pick them up and watched them walk around the back of the Highlander as I drove them home, attempting to eat the seat belts and looking out the windows.
Pros
The vehicle has good visibility, with a good view of all that is going on around the car. It is also easy to clean and is the perfect size so that it is not excessively large, and also not too small.
Cons
I have had a limited number of problems requiring maintenance. The stereo does appear outdated; however, that could easily be updated.
