The Toyota Highlander is a car that I recently bought just last year mainly for the sake of traveling to and from work. I love how it can fit a large group of people and make it feel roomy at the same time so my friends would pick my car as the car of choice for an outing. There's no interior rattle of any sort, and the car moves smoothly and fast. The brakes have no problems, and the Highlander can stop quickly without any issues. The navigational system within the car could use some work, since I find it difficult to use. The GPS on it is especially difficult, so I usually resort to my phone GPS on long-distance travel. The fact that the car has a built-in camera in the back is very handy when backing out of a parking spot.
Story
I was once at a shopping center parking lot, and after I finished up buying some medication for a friend, I looked for my car. I usually rely on the license plate to verify which car is mine but this was a fairly new car, so I don't have the plate memorized. I opened up the driver door and immediately was face to face with two boys in the backseat, one of whom was in a booster seat. I quickly ... (more)
Pros
The Bluetooth stereo doesn't require a plug in for the phone in order to play music. The roomy atmosphere and the size even allows for the claustrophobic some breathing room. The back seat also retracts downward, allowing space for storing equipment, and for the restaurant business, it's necessary for a car to be able to store a lot.
Cons
The speed can sometimes be too fast, but it won't feel that way due to the smoothness of the car. The built-in navigation system could also be tweaked to allow for easier accessing. The car also feels like it uses fuel much faster than other cars.

The Toyota Highlander is a versatile family vehicle. The Highlander can accommodate up to eight people with the third-row seat. When the third row is stowed, the Highlander has great capacity for strollers, groceries, and trips to the home improvement super store of your choice. We are able to tow a small camper for family camping trips. My kids love the leg room they have in the second row. My husband appreciates the onboard navigation and satellite radio. I find the Highlander to be easy to drive, and I don't feel like I'm driving around a giant van when it's just me alone in the Highlander.
Story
We live in New England, close to the ocean. We often back our Highlander up to a beautiful view of the water, either in Jamestown or Newport and open the back hatch. We've had lots of impromptu picnics with our kids sitting in the back of the Highlander looking out to the ocean.
Pros
The top positives about the Highlander is Toyota quality. We've had great luck with the reliability of the vehicle. Another pro is V6 engine. The engine provides all the power we need, yet the Highlander still handles like a car and not a truck. The interior quality is great compared to other SUVs we have owned (Fords).
Cons
I think I would love for there to be better fuel economy within the V6 category. The other small complaint I have is the controls for the radio/satellite navigation on the right hand side of the console are difficult to reach, even for my 6'2" husband.
