It is a pretty decent SUV all around. It is a sturdy and well-built car. The structure of the car is great, and there is no rust on it, which is magical for its age and the environment that it has been in, which is a wet and salty one. I like that it look more advanced than the RAV 4s before this one having the experience of owning an older model than this one previously.
Story
One time on the highway on the way home, I drove through a puddle of road paint in the middle of the night because a truck leaked a large amount of the paint all over the road. I did not realize until I got home that there was yellow road paint all over the sides of my car on the bottom and on the tires. It literally covered on the bottom half of my car. It was not fun cleaning that off of it.
Pros
The vehicle drives and steers nice and smooth which is great. It gets you from A to B and hasn't had any major issues. It has had the typical problems such as needing a tune-up, but there have not been any major problems with the car, so it is a rather reliable and sturdy car. With its age, there is no rust on the body, which is fantastic, especially since I live in the northwest, which is cold and wet in the winter. That combined with road salt typically causes premature rusting. Not with this car though.
Cons
There is no major downside, except that the car is rather plain. The interior is nothing special, and I have never felt quite comfortable inside of it. The seat comfort is acceptable. Just the experience of comfort by the way the interior is designed and the color scheme, does nothing for me. I don't feel at home in the car.

I used to live on a piece of ranch land about twenty miles outside of a small town in rural Texas. Every day, I had to drive forty-five minutes to get to work and the same distance to get back afterwards. Early on, I had a Dodge Neon that was very unreliable and often gave me trouble. But when I bought my RAV4, my experience driving dramatically improved. The car was rock solid, easy to maintain, and worked for me every time I needed it.
Story
I drove to Missouri and back in it, and the car was rock solid.
Pros
The best things about my RAV4 were its reliability and ease in maintenance. Toyota is known for vehicles that go and go, and my vehicle was no exception. It also had plenty of storage room in the back, without being too large and unwieldy. It also had cruise control, which felt like a treat to me after the lousy car I had before my RAV4. The vehicle was affordable as well - I purchased it used in San Antonio for around 8000, and it was a great deal. I was able to sell it three years later for almost as much.
Cons
The only bad experience I had with my RAV4 is actually kind of embarrassing. One night I left my headlights on and accidentally ran my battery down. The next morning I tried to jump start my car using jumper cables and my girlfriend's car, but I was not able to find the battery! Turns out is located under the passenger side windshield wiper...
