I have owned my 2004 Toyota RAV4 for 11 years and dread the day when it will have to be replaced. It is a small sport SUV that is the same size (length and width) as most sedans, with a higher wheel-base and more room in the back. This makes tight parking places a breeze while still giving me the benefit of added height when driving at night and through poorly plowed streets. This is the front-wheel drive model and yet still has little problem with the heavy snow we get locally. The inside of the car is still spacious, with plenty of head room. The rear seats fold up and can be easily removed, which is very helpful on my antiquing trips. The engine is quiet and it has good gas mileage (23/28 mpg city/highway), especially when compared to some of my friends' SUVs. Mechanically, there ... (more)
Story
When I bought this car I lived in an apartment complex with a steep driveway which was located on a street that was never well plowed. My previous car, a sedan, was constantly getting stuck in the street. Additionally, it just did not have the power to get up the driveway if there was any ice. In the Northeast there is ice 4 months of the year! On the day of the first bad ice/snow storm after ... (more)
Pros
Reliable, low maintenance, spacious trunk, vehicle height deals with poorly plowed streets easily in the winter
Cons
Engine is not as powerful as some of the previous cars I have owned; the gold color is not very attractive especially when combined with the cheap looking silver trim around the bottom of the car and on the spare tire; the tires that came with the car wore out quickly - I had to replace them before 30,000 miles

I enjoy driving my Toyota Rav4. This compact SUV accelerates fast, and has been very reliable in most situations. I have driven this truck back and forth from Georgia to Rhode Island several times, and never experienced any mechanical issues. Now, that I currently reside in Rhode Island I find that my Toyota Rav4 does not handle the snow very well. This past winter I experienced several incidences with the traction and overall control of the vehicle. I am a native of Rhode Island, and know how to drive in the snow. Also, when I used a friend's truck I experienced no traction or control issues. The interior of my vehicle is cloth, and still looks brand new. The thing that I like most about this Toyota Rav4 is that besides normal maintenance I have not had to spend any money repairing my... (more)
Story
I often use my vehicle to go on road trips. One specific time my family and I went camping at Yogi Bear Jelly Stone Park in Sturbridge. We had plenty of room to pack everything we needed for our trip.
Pros
I love that the Toyota Rav 4 is compact. It is just the right size for me, and my family. There is plenty of leg room. I love the controls on the steering wheel that allow me to control my radio/cd player and cruise control. I also love the size of the vehicle because it is very easy to park.
Cons
I do not like how the vehicle handled in the snow. This is really my only complaint. Honestly, there is nothing else I can say negative about it.
