My rav4 has been the best car I have ever owned, now that I am older it was very hard to get in and out of a low lying car so I brought the Rav4 for the height I can step in and out without any strain on my back, also it has a really wonderful back door that opens out instead of up so 1. I don't bang my head and 2. Its easy to load and unload the groceries I don't have to bend down. The car rides smoothly and sitting up higher than a vehicle you can see easily around you as you drive. The mechanics of the car have held up well I have 96,000 miles and have been on several long trips with no problems.
Story
Helping my sister move to a new house, we were able to cram so much stuff into the car I even had a large silk plant in the front seat it was so wedged that when a police car pulled me over I was not able to get my insurance out of the glove box so he let me slide...Think he felt sorry for me :)
Pros
My favorite feature of this car is the height and also the back door. It is also a very comfortable vehicle to ride in and the kids like the fact that the seats in the back will recline so they can sleep better on long trips.
Cons
The only negative thing I have found is it is light on the steering and so gives the feel like any quick movements it would flip. I have had to swerve to get out of the way of another vehicle and it felt a little uncomfortable to feel like it would flip over.

2005 Toyota RAV4 - Love my RAV4.

I love my RAV4. It is economical enough for day to day use, but can also tow or carry a load for when I need to do yard work/hobby/travel. Additionally, I enjoy the seating position. As a tall guy I hate when I feel like I have to climb into or out of the car. The drivers seat feels like the perfect height for a vehicle.
Story
Took my first cross country snowboarding trip in my RAV4. Three buddies, myself, our gear in the trunk, and our boards on the roof for 3 weeks. We set off from the West Coast and headed for the Atlantic stopping all over the country to board for a day or two in each location.
Pros
Decent gas mileage, and can tow/haul for light moving needs. The RAV4 is also durable and reliable. I have not had any issues maintenance wise beyond basic care such as oil changes and the like. I also really enjoy the size of the vehicle, as well as being great vehicle for the outdoorsy types. Its large enough to hold my snowboarding gear, and has the four wheel drive to get up the mountains like I need. Plus the roof rack adds utility.
Cons
Honestly there isn't much wrong with the vehicle. The only minor annoyances I have are the spare tire and the door pockets. The spare tire cover is difficult to get back on the tire are changing it. The door storage pockets also have a weird slot that leads to a lot of stuff falling out of them.
