This van was one of the best vans I have ever had. I have kids and I trusted this van with my life. It has antilock doors, air bags all the way around. I had a crash with my kids in the vehicle and they only got scratches from the accident. The van was so big I was able to take out the seats and move a full size couch when I was moving. Great gas mileage 35 city miles. I would only fill it up twice a month and still have gas at the end of the month. Engine was awesome it was very powerful. Depend car when going on long trips. It never broke down. The cons are the air conditioner, and light fixtures. When you had the air conditioner on it would eat up the gas like no tomorrow. So I just kept it off and had the windows down. The light fixtures were horrible. I would go over a bump and it... (more)
Story
My most memorable moment Is driving to are local hospital in Ogdensburg NY when my wives water popped for are first son. We almost had the baby in the van. We still talk about it till this day. And its been over 5 years now.
Pros
Air bags all the way around the van. Very spacious and roomy. Really dependent vehicle never broke down. My favorite features was the speakers very loud. And a really powerful engine.
Cons
The air conditioner, and the light fixtures were the worst. Air conditioner eating up too much gas. And the high beams aren't as bright as other vehicles.

The 2002 Dodge Caravan has frequent challenges with its heater module and cluster panel. They communicate in such a way that it is difficult to tell whether the speedometer failure is caused by one or the other source. Repairs are costly, as mechanics say the parts are not considered more reliable than the original. I chose to have the instrument cluster re-welded by an expert and replace the heater module. Once the parts have been repaired/replaced, no further issues so far. Currently, this Dodge has over 250,000 miles on it, and is running like a champ. I had the engine seals replaced, and it resolved a small oil leak. Steering is good, though I get nervous about being able to hear the gears working in the steering column when taking a sharp left turn at low speed. The seats ... (more)
Story
I once drove this van 500 miles from Spokane, WA to Portland, OR without back seats and made over 30 MPG!
Pros
Love the bucket seats and the removable benches in the back. Great space in the back for larger hauls. Double sliding passenger doors are a real bonus.
Cons
Electrical problems are common. The plastic protectors on the van floor wheel tracks break over time.
