2004 Toyota Celica - Great little car, can take a lot of abuse
I've had this car for about ten years now. I do not treat her well, to be honest, but she continues to hold up for me for the most part. I drove the back end off a retaining wall, and it did not have permanent damage. It's super low to the ground, which is something I love. I don't like large cars. I love the style of the body, it's sleek and pretty sexy for a mid-range priced car. The interior is comfortable. There aren't a lot of luxuries or extras, but I don't really look for those. The color of the car is a light sky blue, which is unusual to see. The car turns really tightly - this is important to me because I make a lot of U-turns.
Historia
When I first moved into a new apartment, the driveway was incredibly steep. I drove to the top of it to unload my car. When I was backing down the driveway, there was a large rock wall on my left. As I was trying to avoid hitting the wall, I drove my back passenger tire off a retaining wall!! Like I said in the review though, it didn't do any permanent damage to the car. She's a trooper.
A Favor
I love how sleek and low to the ground it is. I like how much of a beating it can take. I've had very few problems with the car even though I haven't taken the best care of it. It's very easy for me to maneuver as well. The seats are really comfortable. It's a two-door hatchback, those are my favorite kinds of cars. It has plenty of room to carry what I need. Also, the center console on the dash is the perfect size to fit a smart phone so that the speaker is facing me! That really helps when I'm using a navigation app. It's also a manual transmission; those are getting harder and harder to... (more)
En Contra
I'm not a huge fan of the spoiler on the back; it's a bit too big. It would be nice if it had a sun roof. I really, really wish it had a navigation/music system built in like newer cars, but I don't think things like that were available in 2004. Also, I wish it had somewhere to plug in my phone or an MP3 player. Again, it might just be too old to have those things at the price it was at.
2004 Toyota Celica - I love this car!
I love my Toyota Celica! I bought it used back in 2009, and the car itself is a 2004. I haven't had any serious issues with the vehicle, and it has been very reliable, even though it is older. My gas mileage in the city is still around 26-28 mpg, even with the age of the vehicle, and on the interstate, I can get mileage as good as 33 mpg.
Historia
There is another Toyota Celica owned by someone who lives one road over from me, so it's always a little funny to pass each other on the street since you don't see a lot of Celicas anymore.
A Favor
The thing that drew me to this car was the body style. I love the sporty, sleek look and feel of the car, and I trust the Toyota brand to have reliable cars, even when they are older vehicles. I feel safe driving this car both in the city and on the highway. I haven't had to do a lot of unexpected maintenance or repairs to the car, and it is still going strong with 140,000 miles on it.
En Contra
The biggest con about this vehicle is its size if you have a child or a large family. There is very little space for a car seat should you need to install one. Since the Celica is a sports car, the trunk space is a bit smaller than on a normal sedan, so moving anything much more than everyday groceries can be a struggle.
