This vehicle should be categorized as a military tank
I always wanted a 4x4 vehicle to make trips with my family and friends to deep-in nature places. I always heard that Toyota was one of the best brands for this purpose. It exceeded my expectations. I bought the vehicle and loved it so much that I used it for my every day commuting. It was a bit expensive on gas but the whole feeling was exceptional. I lifted the vehicle a bit and put in mud tires, and I felt as if I owned the streets. The power and torque it has is unbelievable. The best came when I made the first trip to a park, a friend of mine knew where we could go up some steep hills and go through muddy terrains. The experience was fun for the whole family, and the vehicle came back to the city as if nothing had happened. It is a monster and very reliable.

They don't make 'em like this anymore!
This is a great car with lots of seating and/or cargo capacity. It is rugged and built to last. It has been driven over 200K miles and is still going strong with no knocking or rattling. This is a great car for any place with snow and ice or other conditions, which may need more power and stability. Car seats up to seven, which includes to 'jumper' seats in the cargo area of the back, which can be folded up or removed if you want more cargo space. It has windshield wipers in the front and back as well as a controllable heater in the back to keep passengers more comfortable. My only complaint about the car is that it is an old girl and, as such, she is a gas guzzler which can get rather expensive. She gets about 10 miles to the gallon. But we have had no issues in the winter here in Alaska when other SUV owners we know have! It does have 4WD capability but we have yet to need it, which has been a surprise! She may guzzle gas but she is built like a tank and keeps going! God forbid we are in another accident (we have this car because we were hit by a teenager in the Winter who was going to fast for the icy conditions) -- we won't be damaged and I know my family will be safe. It also has a cargo rack and a 'moose pusher' on the front with additional headlights. If you are a hunter, outdoor enthusiast or live in otherwise inclimate weather or a place with steep and rugged inclines -- gas guzzler or not, this is the robust and versatile vehicle for you.

Best all terrain family vehicle
I own a 100 series Land Cruiser with over 250,000 miles on it. It still runs great, and it is mechanically sound. I have off-roaded it in several states in the western US and Hawaii with no problems and can do any roads that Jeeps are able to do. It is a great family vehicle with plenty of space for three car seats in the middle row. It is easy to maintain and has plenty of cargo space in the back for camping needs. We have installed a roof rack that works very well and carries what we need. We have attached bicycles and a cargo bin to the top.

  • Driven: 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser

The Toyota Land Cruiser is as solid, capable and reliable as it’s been for decades, but a rising tide of new and fresh competition puts the big SUV's aging tech and poor fuel economy in a harsher light, and a high price tag doesn’t help.
