Reliable, trustworthy, easy to drive
I bought my used Rav 4 because I needed a car that would drive in snowstorms and on slippery highways reliably and safely. I have not been disappointed. Driving two to three 30 mile round trips daily on both highway and local roads in a variety of snow and rain conditions for two harsh Wisconsin winters, I have never slipped, skidded or felt unsafe. I have plowed through 10 to 12-inch snow drifts and negotiated slippery hills, and have been able to work my way out without having to get out a shovel or sand. The all-wheel drive seems very reliable. I have needed no major repairs on this vehicle, except for replacing the battery and tires. It is a comfortable car to drive. While not luxuriously appointed, the seats are comfortable, the heat and air conditioning are very effective, and leg and head room for both driver and passengers is excellent. Driver view through the windshield is better and wider than some cars I've driven. My main problem is that view through the rear while backing up is not very good. It is really difficult to tell exactly how close you are to cars and objects behind you. I'm not sure if it is the size of the rear window or its positioning, but it is very difficult for me to judge distances while backing up. A back-up camera or sensors would definitely improve this car.

Happy with this car
We have used the vehicle quite often in our 4 years of owning it because I needed it for job use. We have clocked in over 55,000 miles at this point. The car runs well, good gas mileage, reliable safety mechanisms. It has a nice amount of room and we appreciate especially the size of the trunk. The things we don't like about it are minimal enough where they don't drive us too crazy, but would make the car even better if improved. The cup holders are too small and the inserts stick to any cup or bottle you put in there. The gps navigation system does not allow you to operate it while you are in motion. Understandably, this was put as a safety mechanism, but it is very inconvenient when you have to make a detour or find a gas station urgently. Also, why would it not be possible for the passenger in the front to make changes on the GPS while in motion? Another thing we have never liked is the radio control on the steering wheel. For whatever reason, it has never worked correctly. The car also occasionally "jumps" when you step on the accelerator. We have since learned this is a possible defect of the model. It possibly caused a minor accident in a parking garage once.

Awesome vehicle to own
I absolutely love this vehicle. It is bigger than a car, but smaller than an SUV. But it has all the room of an SUV. I love the hidden compartment in the back area. It is great for extra storage or to hide things! The fact that you can put all the seats down is great for when I need to transport big items. I have never had any issues with my RAV4. As long as I get the oil changed in it, no issues. I have had to replace the battery once in the three years I have had it. And I did need new tires, but I do a lot of driving. The rack on top is great too for transporting our surfboards or luggage. We have taken the RAV on many road trips and I love that there is room in the backseat for three kids and our cooler. The kids still have way more than enough room. This is the third Toyota I have owned and by far the best. I love the feeling of being higher up than in a compact car also.
