2004 GMC Sierra 1500 - Still Ticking
I bought this truck used a couple of years back. It had approximately 320k miles, but I knew that Vortec engines are of exceptional quality. This baby had the chrome, the Bose system, the leather, electronic everything and many features only found on the latest models of the time.
Since that day, I've brought those miles up to over 400k in rough off-road conditions. My driveway is a beaten, rutty dirt road that extends for nearly a mile, and this truck takes it like a champ every day.
Also, my job is mobile DJing in about a 100 mile radius in my area. This is where most of the miles came from. I invested in a camper shell and not only does that reduce drag, but also can hold my entire rig! That includes lights, an entire truss mount system, an eight foot table, two 15" PA speakers, a ... Story
Late nights going to Waffle House after gigs!
Pros
Too much space! Perfect ride for mobile DJ. Takes a beating way past 400K miles on dirt roads and open fields. Classy interior with all of the bells and whistles. One FINE stock sound system. Just add an active sub if the stock 6" doesn't do it for you.
Cons
Air conditioner and instrument cluster have seen better days. It doesn't get infinite fuel economy thanks to the laws of thermodynamics.
2004 GMC Sierra 1500 - It's been a good truck overall.
This truck other than scheduled maintenance and a few dings has nothing wrong with it. It's pretty old and has a lot of miles on it. Most of the negatives comes from the interior. The seats after bit of driving hurt my back.
Story
My favorite memory are just taking trips with the family in this car. It can comfortably seat 5 and six if it's a small child.
Pros
I like that it's lasted a really long time. I finally considering getting a newer truck.
Cons
It could be more fuel efficient. It can be hard to park in a crowded parking lot.
