2014 GMC Sierra 1500 - Needed a new truck for an employee.
First of all, I needed a newer model truck for an employee to run sales for myself doing door but also to haul around our demo equipment. I chose this truck because if I paid cash, I got it at a steal of a price, so, in fact, I did. It has been a great find and has performed better than expected, as I needed an extra truck for the crew. I am very happy with this purchase, and I have nothing really negative to say outside of it, except for having a very small blemish on the bumper, which I had to pay for to fix. But, overall, I'm very happy.
Story
First time I drove the truck to have the bumper fixed, the guy repairing it thought it was a 2018 model because it was in such good of a condition.
Pros
The truck has been great. I have used it a couple of times, and it has had great A/C and good gas mileage. It has been dependable and more than capable to perform the tasks that I needed it for, and it has been a great asset to us.
Cons
The only thing that I had an issue with is a dent and blemish on the bumper that I had to pay to have it fixed because it is being driven by a salesman. I need a very presentable truck for him.
2014 GMC Sierra 1500 - Luxury and functionality.
The vehicle is very well constructed. The navigation system is easy to use and the driver information center provides good information. The vehicle handles very well and the engine does a great job at maintaining speed with cruise control on while changing different types of terrain. I have had zero issues in the winter with this vehicle. Most of the time I don't need to even use the four wheel drive. However, the small amount of times I have gotten stuck in ice or snow I have easily escaped using four wheel drive.
Story
We had an ice storm once and everyone had trouble getting out of the parking lot at work. I put my truck into four wheel drive and drove away with no issues while everyone else was spinning wheels and not moving.
Pros
The driver information center is very useful. It gamifies the user experience when I am constantly trying to get the best miles per gallon, which is better for the environment. The engine cuts down to 4 cylinders when available to help conserve gas and this has made a huge difference in my gas mileage.
Cons
The vehicle is very susceptible to rust. There is not a significant amount of undercoating and living in the northeast the rust set in pretty quickly. There is also a sound damping cover in the wheel wells. These start to look pretty degraded after several years and there isn't much you can do to make them look better.
