2015 Honda Odyssey - A great experiment.
My husband was retiring from the military and I was moving back to the Midwest from the coast ahead of him. I needed a vehicle to carry heirlooms, etc., and our two mid sized crated elderly dogs. We also needed easy access, exceptional reliability, and a friendly price. We loved the look and feel of the Honda 2015 Odyssey and we have not been disappointed by the vehicles performance. Unlike many larger vehicles, the Odyssey does not hesitate or lag when a quick acceleration is needed. All necessary gauges, dials, and monitors are well within vision or reach; many controls are accessed via the steering wheel. En-route to the Midwest, I especially enjoyed the ease at which I was able to connect pre-programmed phone numbers to make calls and to receive calls. Although, we opted for the cl... (more)

En-route to the Midwest, I especially enjoyed the ease at which I was able to connect pre-programmed phone numbers to make calls and to receive calls. Although, we opted for the cloth interior, the driver and passenger area feels luxurious. All of the driver controls are very durable, high quality, and easy to use. Our number one concern, however, was getting enough cool air to our crated dogs located by the hatch. The air vents in the cargo area and controls in the second row kept our pets very comfortable on the long, hot, summer trip. The only two draw backs to this vehicle are the price and the gas mileage. We are definitely Honda enthusiast now!
Well, if we had stayed on the coast where the vehicle was purchased our oil changes would have been free at the dealer. We, promptly moved the vehicle to the Midwest. The oil changes were not going to be free. As the Odyssey uses synthetic oil I was terrified as to the cost of oil changes. I had heard horror stories of sedans being charged 150.00 for a synthetic oil change. But, this was a van... (more)

The oil changes were not going to be free. As the Odyssey uses synthetic oil I was terrified as to the cost of oil changes. I had heard horror stories of sedans being charged 150.00 for a synthetic oil change. But, this was a van so I envisioned an even worse price. The dealership here in town changes my oil for 39.99. I was stunned the first time I took the van in for an oil change. The service adviser smiled and said: "Welcome to the Midwest ma'am!"
Air conditioning controls and fans in the 2nd row of seats and in the cargo/hatch area to keep all passengers cool or warm. Easy reach and seen driver controls; plus phone controls on steering wheel and easy to reach stereo controls. Very smooth ride. No rattling and minimal road bumping. Excellent to handle and steer. Feels as though I'm driving a much smaller vehicle. Feel of driver controls and inside interior is very luxurious yet durable. When I drive other vehicles I feel like I've taken a step down in quality.

The price is very high and we had to lease the vehicle to get the payment into our desired range. The gas mileage is not great. But, the larger the vehicle, the lower the gas mileage-always. Two little minor annoyances I have noticed are: tires squeal and spin easily. and when breaking hard, the wheels have this grinding sensation and sound awful.

2015 Honda Odyssey - Not the normal soccer van
I like but not love my Honda Odyssey. The look gives off the message of super cool mom. Unlike most minivans this one is actually stylish. My kids love the rear seat entertainment, and I love the space and functionality. In fact, it doubled as a moving van when we purchased our new house in February. All of the seats in the second row can be removed, and the third-row seats stow away into the floor. Once that was done we were able to fit a full-sized sofa in it plus a dinning room table and some chairs. I was truly amazed. We keep the middle seat in the second row out of the van in order to have a "walk way" for the kids to get into the third row. We have three kids who love to fight over who sits where so this helps a great deal. On road trips my son can even bring his video game and ... (more)

This is really the car you want if you have a full family.
Last year my family decided that they wanted to go camping. Everyone knows that I am not an "outdoor person." Anyway, we all went camping, and once everyone was asleep, I put the seats down in the stow away compartment in the back and slept there. I must add how comfortable it was too. The next morning my husband came to the van a caught me sleep in there instead of in the tent.

Space has to be the top positive, along with the rear seat entertainment. Also, people look at minivans as being slow vehicles, but this one has speed. It is also great on gas. I drive 40 miles to work and 40 miles back home five days a week and I only fill up once a week. As long as you keep up on oil changes and maintenance, your gas will last. There is also an eco setting to save even more gas. I also have to mention the vacuum. This is truly a blessing because we all know how kids are in cars, there will always be something to clean up. Now it's no problem when my sons spills his bag o... (more)

The only negative thing I can say about this vehicle is that it is not four-wheel drive. This honestly frustrated me at first because I specifically asked the salesman if it had AWD and he said it did. I didn't realize that I had been lied to until winter hit and I was stuck in the snow. Other than that, this is a great vehicle.
