Pros

  • Impressive suite of active safety features
  • Numerous innovative features to communicate with passengers and keep kids entertained
  • Spacious interior
  • High quality interior that’s comfortable
  • Cons

  • Second-row seats are heavy when removing them
  • The nine-speed transmission’s shifts can be clunky
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Doesn’t have AWD like the Toyota Sienna offers

  • Key Takeaways

The 2018 Honda Odyssey gets heaps of praise for the way it comfortably and safely hauls around the entire family and keeps them entertained during the trip. While it lacks the optional AWD of the Toyota Sienna and the easy-folding Stow-n-go seats of the Chrysler Pacifica, the Odyssey still lands at the top of the segment because it’s the best at everything else.

I haven't had a minivan in 30 years, but with four grandchildren to transport, it was one of the options I had. I test drove a few but settled on the Odyssey. I drove different levels of Odyssey, but the higher end with the leather seats was definitely more comfortable. One of the deciding factors was the removable eighth seat and the magic slide seats. It is so easy to reconfigure that middle row even my five-year-old grandson can move his seat where he wants it. The seats are easy to accommodate four car seats. The back row can easily flip down to make room for more storage. I love the large screen in the front and the fact that it can all sync with my cell phone. The maps appear on the large screen and are easy to see. One of the features I haven't figured out is the automatic door ... (more)
    Story
Being able to have all of my grandchildren in the car. When we were going down a big curvy hill, they all raised their hands and squealed like they were on a rollercoaster. Fun times in the van.
    Pros
Magic slide seat, stowable seat, large video screen, lane assist.
    Cons
    Sliding door malfunction. Automatic locking.

So much space it's hard to max out the seating capacity of this thing! Amazing tech features and handles like a car. No other minivan can take a turn like the Odyssey. By far the best vehicle to haul lots of humans and still be fun to drive. The 2018 Honda Odyssey is being hailed as the most family-friendly minivan in the world, and there is no doubt that it is one of the safest and most fun minivans to drive.
    Story
We went on vacation with family via road trip on our way to Vegas. This was fun because my family was all in the vehicle.
    Pros
Spaciousness. Speedy acceleration. Quiet interior. Configurable second-row seats are available. Many standard safety features.
    Cons
Difficulty moving second-row seats. Not enough USB outlets. Third-row seats aren't power-folding. Visibility issues.
