2008 Mazda Mazda6 Owner Ratings & Reviews

2008 Mazda Mazda6 - Reliable and stylish
The Mazda 6 is a very reliable vehicle. The drive is smooth and quiet. The design of the interior is very sleek and timeless. The spoiler makes a great addition to the car. The engine has had no problems since I purchased the car. The rims are oversized which helps aid in the nice design of the exterior. The doors close very smoothly and quietly. The trunk is very good sized and the back seats can be pulled down to make it bigger. The gear shift is very comfortable on your hand. The car allows for the ability to go manual or automatic. I purchased the car at 40k miles, and I have now put an additional 132k miles on it. With regular oil changes and the use of synthetic oil, I have had no major issues over the time. The car features a six-disc, in-dash changer, which is nice. I have mana... (more)
Story
My husband and I took the Mazda a couple hours away to camp at Shade's State Park. The car held up incredibly well, even though it was packed full of camping gear and heavy coolers. We even sat in the running car at the campsite with the A/C on to try to cool ourselves down after our hikes.
Pros
The pros are the comfort and sleek design of the interior and the sport look of the exterior. Trunk size is optimal for anyone. The car runs incredibly smooth and quiet.
Cons
The only negative is that I have received two recall notices about the airbags in the car and about the tire pressure sensors. I did have to replace the sensors as they were malfunctioning. The only other con is that a sensor in the gear shift has gone bad which requires me to put the car in neutral to start it. It no longer recognizes when it is in park.
2008 Mazda Mazda6 - I would definitely not buy again.
Overall, the car runs great. We do not have any issues as far. However, we have had several major and odd issues with the car that have stumped several mechanics and still have not been fixed due to the mystery behind the issues. The air conditioner has failed to work for the past two summer seasons due to the air conditioner not being able to hold Freon. This is just one problem that mechanics can't seem to figure out. After several attempts and over $1000 spent, the problem is still not fixed. We have decided to live with it until we can buy another car. The biggest issues we have had with theca id having the alarm randomly go off if the trunk is opened too quickly, if we turn the car off and wait before we get out, or if we hit the lock button on our key. in general, we always have ... Story
My husband used the car to pick up a cheerleader from a local NFL team players house. The rule is that cheerleaders are not allowed to date their home team players! Scandalous!
Pros
I am a cake decorator. I like that there is room in the trunk to deliver cakes. I also like that there are seat warmers.
Cons
Mysterious problems, and having to pay an arm and a leg just to have headlights changed because the entire bumper has to be removed just to change the bulbs. So not only am I paying for the lights but I have to pay the major labor cost just to change the bulbs.
