2016 Mazda Mazda6 - Midsize fun

The 2.5 liter I4 has plenty of power, and the six-speed automatic, with "Economy" and "Sport" modes is very responsive; but if you're so inclined, there is also a manual mode. For a midsize car, it is plenty spacious, and the seats fold down for even more cargo room. The infotainment system has plenty of options with regards to playing music (and I love music.) You can also make hands-free phone calls, almost as if the person you are talking to is in the car with you. Additionally, there is an optional GPS.
Story
This car is full of doohickeys that are supposed to make driving it even better than it is but just end up getting in the way. It supposedly has a light sensor that turns off the high beams automatically, but it doesn't seem to work. The first time I drove it at night, I had the high beams on and a cop goes past me. Of course, I didn't turn off the high beams, because my car was supposed to do... (more)
Pros
The car is very fun to drive compared to a '96 Volvo.
Cons
There is, however, a definite feeling of "they don't make them like they used to" when you compare it to my '96 jalopy. The controls, specifically the light and windshield wiper knobs have the feel of a cheap children's toy. The seats appear to be leather at first glance, but instead they are vinyl. The steering wheel also is covered in an obnoxious-feeling fake leather. The infotainment system may be state of the art, but the four-speaker sound system (as opposed to six in my Volvo) suffers from rather awkward placement of the speakers. Worse, it distorts bass sometimes to the point of be... (more)

The reason I selected my Mazda 6 was because it was the most well-equipped vehicle for the price point in its category. Other mid-size sedans of other makes were pricing easily $10,000 - $15,000 higher than the Mazda 6 and the Mazda 6 has some of the most up-to-date features in the industry. Mazda is constantly being innovative in the design of their vehicles as well - from sleek design that gives the Mazda 6 a sporty physique unlike other passenger vehicles, to interior/passenger comfort, and fuel economy. All of these features add up to a great vehicle that is perfect for short in-town trips or long-distance road trips. For a 4-cylinder, too, the Mazda 6 gets right up and going from takeoff, cousin to a rally car experience.. My Mazda has the additional feature of being able to switc... (more)
Story
When I got in a bad car accident last winter, I was so sad to see my Mazda hurt, but was absolutely amazed at its passenger cabin integrity. My Mazda truly protected me in a scary situation!
Pros
Speed, zippiness, stability, rear-view camera, bucket seats, advanced sound system, safety features.
Cons
Wish they made it in a 6-cylinder! The 6 has some get up and go, but a 6-cylinder model would take it more towards the sport end than the sedan end, which the Mazda 6 has been morphing towards in recent years. I'd like to see it get back more to its racing roots.
